The VAST Data AI Operating System unifies on-premises and cloud environments into a single, intelligent data platform. It removes the operational boundary between where data lives and where AI compute runs, so enterprises can use cloud accelerators and services without creating parallel datasets, migration projects, or new silos. The same VAST software and capabilities are delivered consistently across supported clouds, making it possible to extend an existing environment into the cloud, or the cloud to on-prem, while keeping one data plane and one operational model.
Unify data across on-prem and cloud
VAST AI OS connects on-prem and cloud environments into a single Global Namespace for file and object access. Instead of creating separate copies on-prem and in cloud, workloads can access the same dataset regardless of location, while keeping consistent paths, metadata, and data services.
Simplify data operations for AI across hybrid cloud
VAST turns enterprise data into continuously usable AI context across on-prem and cloud by maintaining current metadata, embeddings, and indexes alongside the data itself. Teams can ingest and enrich data once, keep derived representations refreshed as source data changes in either location, and reuse that context across projects without rebuilding pipelines when workloads shift between on-prem and cloud. This keeps retrieval grounded in what is current and reduces the operational friction of hybrid AI.
Build cloud-ready AI data services with a consistent platform layer
VAST provides the AI data services production systems rely on, delivered consistently across clouds and integrated with hybrid deployments. Vector-aware search and retrieval can be operated as a shared service, with real-time and batch processing in the same environment, so teams avoid assembling separate indexing, caching, and database stacks for each cloud region or account. This makes it easier to standardize how applications produce and consume embeddings, manage derived context, and promote high-value outputs into reusable enterprise knowledge.
Operate with cloud-scale governance and operational visibility
VAST enforces access controls and policy consistently across hybrid deployments, reducing the complexity of governing data as it spans on-prem and cloud environments. It provides centralized auditing and provenance, so teams can verify what data was accessed and trace outputs back to source material when needed for compliance, investigation, or quality review. For operational oversight, VAST exposes the signals teams rely on to monitor data and pipeline health across environments, helping operators detect drift, troubleshoot performance issues, and maintain predictable behavior as models, prompts, and workflows change.

Fixed compute plan (CPU Core)
VAST Data platform price varies according to components used and consumption. Reach out to our sales team at aws-sales@vastdata.com to request a customized AWS Marketplace Private Offer tailored to your capacity, compute, and use case requirements.
You buy this platform through a contract with two pricing dimensions. The Fixed capacity plan bills by storage capacity in terabytes. The Fixed compute plan bills by CPU core. Both dimensions cover the same data platform, which handles storage, database, and AI pipeline work. Your final price depends on the components you use and how much you consume. Because pricing is customized, you request a Private Offer from the vendor's sales team. That offer is tailored to your capacity, compute, and use case needs. Choose the dimension that matches how you plan to scale.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the Fixed capacity plan measure, and what counts toward it?
The Fixed capacity plan bills by storage capacity in terabytes (TB). This covers data written to the unified store, whether block, file, or object. Both structured tables and unstructured content like video, documents, and audio count against your provisioned capacity. Your final price also reflects the components you use.
What does the Fixed compute plan measure, and how is it counted?
The Fixed compute plan bills by CPU core. Cores handle the platform's processing work, such as data enrichment, database queries, and AI pipeline actions. You provision cores based on how much processing your workload needs. More cores support faster analytics and heavier pipeline automation.
Which dimension should I pick if my storage and compute needs grow differently?
The two dimensions bill independently. Choose the Fixed capacity plan if your data volume grows faster than your processing needs. Choose the Fixed compute plan if your workload demands more processing power relative to storage. The architecture separates compute from capacity, so each can scale on its own.

Innovative, High-Performance Data Platform That Scales Simply
Reviewed on Sep 01, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about VAST Data is its innovative approach to managing and processing data at scale. I especially appreciate how it brings together high performance, scalability, and simplicity, which makes it easier for organizations to take on large, complex data workloads without adding unnecessary complexity.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about VAST Data comes down mostly to cost and complexity. It can be expensive to get started, and in smaller environments it can feel like overkill for what you actually need. The initial setup may also demand a lot of technical expertise, and some workloads might not benefit enough from VAST’s architecture to truly justify the investment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
VAST Data is helping us address the challenges of managing large volumes of data while also making that data easy to access for our workloads. It provides a scalable, high-performance platform that streamlines data management and supports better overall performance. For me, the biggest benefit is having a more efficient, reliable way to manage our data without needing to juggle as many separate storage systems.

VAST Data’s All-Flash DASE Architecture Delivers Scalable, High-Throughput AI Storage
Reviewed on Aug 22, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
VAST Data replaces complex multi-tier storage with an all-flash Disaggregated Shared-Everything (DASE) architecture, delivering archive-level pricing using QLC flash and global deduplication. Its stateless compute-to-storage design scales linearly and maximizes throughput to keep modern AI and GPU workloads fully saturated.
What do you dislike about the product?
VAST Data comes with a high entry cost and a sizable hardware footprint, which makes it impractical for smaller, sub-petabyte environments. It also depends on an ultra-low-latency RDMA network fabric to prevent bottlenecks. In addition, it feels less well suited to heavy, random transactional write workloads, especially when compared with read-heavy AI pipelines.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
VAST Data addresses storage tiering and GPU I/O starvation by bringing files, structured tables, and vector embeddings together on a single all-flash platform. By unifying these data types in one place, it reduces the need for complex ETL pipelines, helps maximize AI model training and retrieval speeds, and aims to deliver petabyte-scale flash performance with spinning-disk economics.
