Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the running EC2 instance, with no upfront commitment. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the size and family you pick. Smaller shared types like t3.micro sit at one end, while large memory, compute, storage, and accelerated types like x2iedn.metal or p5.48xlarge sit at the other. Pricing scales with the compute, memory, and storage each instance provides. You choose the instance that fits your database workload, and the hourly software rate applies while it runs. The vendor recommends m5.large or larger.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and what is not included in it?
The hourly rate covers the Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition software running on your chosen EC2 instance. It includes 24/7 support with a 24-hour response target. It does not include the underlying AWS EC2 compute charge or storage costs, which AWS bills separately alongside the software rate.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when the instance is stopped?
The software rate applies only while the EC2 instance runs. A stopped instance accrues no hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS storage fees for the root volume and the dedicated Oracle data volume while stopped, since those persist independent of running state.
How do I pick an instance type, and does the software rate change by size?
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. Larger types with more vCPU, memory, or storage carry higher hourly rates. The vendor recommends m5.large or larger, with minimums of 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 20 GB disk. You pay the rate tied to whichever type you launch.
