Artemis and Image Safari are complementary large-scale agricultural imaging datasets containing approximately 7.5 million field images (7,469,218) from smallholder and phenotyping farming systems across 18 crop species in 11 countries spanning sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and the United States. Artemis (1,387,663 images) pairs imagery with linked agronomic, genotypic, and environmental metadata across four crops and four countries. Image Safari (6,081,555 images) captures diversity across 18 crops and nine countries. A subset of 40,558 images includes organ-level annotations (10,887 Artemis; 29,671 Image Safari). Artemis annotations cover instance segmentation and object detection for common bean, cowpea, and sorghum (soybean has imagery only). Image Safari annotations cover point, semantic segmentation, scribble, object detection, and instance segmentation for 16 of 18 crops (finger millet and lentil have imagery only). The datasets combine crop imagery, structured metadata[...]

The datasets combine crop imagery, structured metadata, and annotations to support agricultural foundation models, plant disease detection, growth stage recognition, and cross-environment generalisation research.

    Description
Artemis structured phenotyping images (1,387,663 images, four crops: common bean, cowpea, soybean, sorghum) with linked agronomic, genotypic, and environmental metadata. Annotations are published for common bean, cowpea, and sorghum; soybean has imagery only. Field images (JPEG, original acquisition resolution) and annotations organised by crop under annotations/standard/instance_segmentation/<set>/ and annotations/standard/object_detection/<set>/ (COCO JSON and related formats). Parquet and CSV metadata files under each crop directory's metadata/ subtree.

    Description
Image Safari diversity-driven crop images (6,081,555 images, 18 crops) across nine countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Annotations are published for 16 of 18 crops; finger millet and lentil have imagery only. Field images (JPEG, original acquisition resolution) and annotations organised by crop under annotations for point, semantic_segmentation, scribble, object_detection, and instance_segmentation under annotations/standard/<modality>/<set>/ (COCO JSON, PNG masks, and related formats). Per-image metadata is provided as JSON sidecar files.
