Modern Data Protection and Recovery (MDPR)

Modern data protection for your entire data estate.

MDPR stores data in an independent Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment – hardened with encryption, immutability, and role-based access controls. This design eliminates co-failure risk and provides essential separation of duties – a key expectation of boards, auditors and compliance frameworks. MDPR is powered by market-leading data protection platforms and supported by Grant Thornton’s local digital and advisory teams.

Combinations of on-premise systems, IaaS workloads, workloads deployed into Azure, aging or un-modernized backup capabilities, data proliferation into SaaS subscriptions, including Microsoft 365 or Salesforce, gaps in backups coverage or simply the fact that the dependency on protection and recovery is now critical are all valid bsuiness cases for a modern data protection and recovery capability to be established.

There arel 3 “start” solution options:

1. Adopt MDPR 365 and make sure you Microsoft 365 (OneDrive, Teams, Sharepoint, Email, Entra ID) and other SaaS data sets like Salesforce are safe in an AWS backup repository.
2. Amplify your resiliency with Direct to Object Architecture (DTO) and adopt AWS as the foundation for the whole backup solution, primary, secondary, tertiary and long term.
3. Replace the weakest link in your backup state, the backup tapes, with a Scale Out Backup Repository Architecture (SOBR) using AWS storage as offsite and long term secure storage.

Each solution is designed, deployed documented and delivered to the customer. The customer's internal operations team is supported in testing and training up to operate MDPR, with handover of the achitecture and build documentation to the customer's digital teams. Support for the Veeam platform and the AWS environment is provided to both teams by GTD and Veeam. [If MDPR is required as a managed services, this can be solutioned with the customers].
