Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. You pay by the hour for a hardened, HIPAA-compliant Oracle Linux 9 image. Pricing scales with the EC2 instance type you choose to run it on. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS instance size, from small general-purpose types up to large memory-, compute-, storage-, and GPU-focused machines. Larger or more specialized instances carry higher hourly rates, so your cost tracks the compute capacity you select. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment. Select the instance that fits your workload's memory, CPU, and hardware needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit map to for billing?
Each hourly unit is the running time of one EC2 instance of the size you select, carrying the hardened Oracle Linux 9 image. You pay for each hour that instance runs. Instance count and size both affect your total, since each running instance meters its own hours separately.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing this hourly software fee. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate AWS charges, not the software license charge.
What is included beyond the operating system image itself?
You get an Oracle Linux 9 image hardened using industry-standard frameworks such as STIG and NIST, with security controls applied by default. On-demand support is available by email, phone, and chat. These features come with every instance size you choose.
