    Overview

InterSystems®, a creative data technology provider dedicated to helping customers solve their most critical scalability, interoperability, and speed problems, offers its market leading InterSystems Cloud portfolio of Smart Data Services through the AWS Cloud Marketplace. The portfolio includes fully managed cloud services designed to speed and simplify the development of cloud-native database and machine learning (ML) applications, while lowering total cost of ownership.

As part of the InterSystems Cloud portfolio of Smart Data Services, InterSystems IRIS Cloud SQL and InterSystems IRIS Cloud IntegratedML give application developers access to InterSystems proven enterprise-class capabilities as self-service, fully managed offerings in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud while providing a fast and seamless on-ramp to the full suite of capabilities in the InterSystems IRIS data platform. InterSystems IRIS is a next-generation enterprise-class data platform that provides powerful database management, integration, analytics, application development, and API management capabilities in a single product that speeds time to value, simplifies architectures, and reduces maintenance effort and cost.

InterSystems IRIS Cloud SQL makes it easy for application developers to leverage InterSystems advanced relational database capabilities as a fully managed, secure, scalable, high performance, highly available cloud-native database-as-a-service (DBaaS).

Available as an additional cloud managed service for InterSystems IRIS Cloud SQL customers, InterSystems IRIS Cloud IntegratedML extends the capabilities of IRIS Cloud SQL to enable SQL developers to quickly build, tune, and execute machine learning models with just a few SQL-like commands, without moving or copying data to a different environment.

InterSystems IRIS Cloud IntegratedML automates much of the tedious work involved in feature engineering and model building and tuning. It also empowers skilled data scientists to become more productive and focus on higher-value tasks. Models created and trained with InterSystems IRIS Cloud IntegratedML are embedded directly within InterSystems IRIS Cloud SQL and execute in response to real-time events and transactions.

    Highlights

    • Extremely high performance, especially for ingesting and processing incoming data and performing SQL queries on the data with low latency at scale
    • Fast and easy to provision and use, with automated security, data encryption, and backups. Ability to easily connect client applications via JDBC, ODBC, DB-API, and ADO.NET drivers

Useful Cloud Solution for IRIS Database

    Reviewed on Jan 10, 2024
    Purchase verified by AWS

An excellent solution for quickly setting up a database, whether it's for work or testing purposes. I was particularly impressed by its seamless integration with S3 for handling large file uploads. I've had the pleasure of working with Cloud SQL using both Python and Java, and the presence of libraries that simplify the process, such as SQL Alchemy support, is a definite plus.

    Amazing Interoperability Tool

What do you like best about the product?
InterSystems Iris right of the bat has some incredible out of the box features that deliver poweful connections and transfomations so that data is recieved, transfmormed and sent out quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the biggest downside to InterSystems Iris (and is actually small in comparison to what it could be) is that if you want to add custom functionaility you will have to learn a the InterSystems Specific programming language (at least a little) to get it built out. It follows pretty standard programing rules and syntax though so it won't take long to get moving with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using InterSystems IRIS for Health (HealthConnect) to connect all of our Hospitals & Vendor Systems to our Electronic Medical Record. It's user interface is much simpler to use than our pervious system and offers some great features for settings that reduce work time -- like development wizards and drag & drop settings.

What do you like best about the product?
Exceptional Performance: Intersystems IRIS is known for its speed and efficiency in data processing. Its high-performance caching engine and in-memory processing capabilities allow it to handle large volumes of data quickly and efficiently.

Flexibility and Scalability: IRIS supports a variety of data models such as relational data, documents, and graphics. This provides greater flexibility to shape the data according to the specific needs of the application. Furthermore, the system is highly scalable and can handle increasing workloads without compromising performance.

Integration and Interoperability: Intersystems IRIS is a robust integration platform, enabling easy data exchange between heterogeneous systems. It supports a variety of integration standards such as HL7, JSON, SOAP and REST, making it easy for different systems and applications to communicate.
What do you dislike about the product?
However, it has some negative points to be considered.

Learning Curve: For developers who are familiar with other database management systems, there may be an initial learning curve to adapt to the specifics and quirks of IRIS.

Cost: Intersystems IRIS is an enterprise-grade solution and therefore can be more expensive compared to other database options on the market. Costs can increase significantly depending on the size of the deployment and additional resources required.

Hardware Requirements: Due to the focus on high performance, IRIS may have more demanding hardware requirements compared to other database solutions, which can influence infrastructure costs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work implementing Iris with integrations in the health area.
Points that improved my work: Interoperability between different systems, data processing performance.
