    Dimensions summary

You pay based on what you use, not a fixed subscription. Three metering dimensions combine to form your bill. You are charged per vCPU deployed each hour, which scales with the compute size you select. You pay separately for allocated storage, billed hourly in 10 GB chunks, so storage costs rise as you add capacity. If you enable the IntegratedML feature, you pay an added per-vCPU hourly charge on top of your compute. The IntegratedML charge applies only when that feature is included in your deployment. Compute, storage, and the optional feature scale independently.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

A vCPU is one virtual processor in the compute size you select for your managed database. You are billed for each vCPU deployed, each hour it runs. As you choose a compute size with more vCPUs, your hourly compute charge rises in step with that count.
All three meter independently and add together each hour. vCPU charges scale with compute size. Storage charges scale in 10 GB chunks. IntegratedML adds a per-vCPU hourly charge only when that feature is enabled. Compute and storage usually drive most of the bill; IntegratedML applies on top.
The IntegratedML charge applies per vCPU per hour whenever the feature is included in your deployment, not per prediction. If your deployment does not include IntegratedML, no such charge appears. IntegratedML lets you define and run predictive models directly from SQL without separate machine learning expertise.

Powerful All-in-One platform, worth the learning curve

    Reviewed on Sep 01, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The things I liked the most are the performance, having the multidimensional engine is really fast to read and write even with high data volume and it gets really impressive when compared with relational databases. Also, I'd like to say that it is really multimodel, so you are able to access the same data with SQL, as an object, or using the Globals. For the last thing, the interoperability module is very mature and there's a lot of features ready-made.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some things about IRIS that bother me a little bit, the small community, when you compare it with other technologies, is very niche. I asked about IRIS to a lot of people and they don't know what it is. Because of that, it is harder to solve very specific problems, sometimes you will have only the answer at old forums. The job market is very limited, it is hard to find someone who has experience with IRIS, and to hire someone and train them takes time. The licensing cost is not very accessible, so only big companies can afford it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The built-in interoperability engine has been very important to reduce development time on integration projects. I can use pre-built adapters and visual pipelines to route and transform messages. What took me weeks now takes days.

Iris’ Data Persistence Is a Game-Changer

    Reviewed on Aug 20, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I think IRIS is a really good product overall, even though it can feel a bit complex at times. What I appreciate the most is the data persistence, which has been especially valuable for my use case. It gives me confidence that the data I need will be there when I need it.

The IRIS portal interface is intuitive up to a point and generally easy to navigate. It took some time to get familiar with certain parts of the platform, but once you understand how things are organized, it becomes much easier to work with.

I also really like how straightforward it is to work with integrations. Setting them up and managing them has been a good experience so far, and I haven't had many issues in that area. The overall performance is another strong point for me. The platform feels reliable and performs well during day to day use.

Overall, I think IRIS is a solid product with a good combination of functionality, performance, and reliability. There is definitely a learning curve in some areas, but once you get used to the platform, it becomes much easier to use and provides a lot of value.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the main challenges for me has been getting answers to questions or finding solutions when something goes wrong. Since IRIS isn’t as widely known or used as some other technologies, it can sometimes be difficult to find relevant information, examples, or people who have faced the same issue before.

The licensing cost can also be a concern, especially for companies that are considering adopting the technology or expanding its use. It can make it harder to justify the investment compared to more widely used alternatives.

That said, I think InterSystems’ AI could make a big difference here. Having AI support built around the platform could make it easier to find answers, understand how things work, and solve problems without having to rely as much on external resources. I think this could significantly reduce the learning curve and make IRIS more approachable for new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Please improve the documentation. The current version can be quite confusing and sometimes makes it difficult to understand how certain features work or how to solve a specific problem. It would be really helpful to have clearer explanations, more practical examples, and better organized information. Improving the documentation would make it much easier for new users to get started and for existing users to find answers when they need them.
