You pay by the hour for a hardened Oracle Linux 8 machine image running on your chosen EC2 instance. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so pricing scales with the compute size and family you select. Smaller instances like t2.nano or t3.micro bill at low hourly rates, while larger compute, memory, storage, or GPU instances such as c7i.16xlarge or g5.16xlarge bill at higher rates. You are charged only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment. Choose the instance that fits your workload.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly am I paying for in each hourly rate?
You pay for the hardened Oracle Linux 8 machine image licence, metered per running hour on the EC2 instance you launch. The rate covers the software image only. Underlying AWS compute, storage, and network charges are billed separately by AWS and are not included here.
Am I charged the hourly software fee when my instance is stopped?
The software fee meters only while the instance runs. A stopped or terminated instance stops accruing the hourly software charge. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those come from AWS, not from this listing's software rate.
Why does each dimension name match an EC2 instance type?
Each dimension ties the software rate to one specific EC2 instance type. When you launch that instance, the matching hourly software charge applies automatically. Selecting a different instance family or size means a different dimension and a different hourly rate. You are not billed for instances you do not run.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
