What does one hourly unit cover for these dimensions?
Each dimension maps to one running AWS EC2 instance of a specific type. One unit equals one instance running for one hour. The rate includes the Oracle Linux 9.0 image and TIOV IT support for that instance size. You run one instance; you pay that instance type's hourly rate.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running hours only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue this hourly software fee. Charges resume when you start the instance again. Note that underlying AWS storage or other AWS resources may still bill separately while the instance is stopped.
What drives my cost if I run several instance types at once?
Each instance bills independently at its own hourly rate. Your total is the sum of every running instance's hours times its rate. Larger compute, memory, GPU, and bare-metal types carry higher rates, so those instances usually drive most of your bill. Smaller shared types add less.

Usage instructions
Once the instance is running, connect to it using a Secure Shell (SSH) client with the configured SSH key. The default username is 'cloud-user'
Info regarding virtual machines
The operating system does not save any sensitive information for the customers. The customer is responsible for saving any information, sensitive or not.
The data saved on the volumes is not encrypted by default.
All instance authentication must use key pair access, not password-based authentication.
AMIs does not contain passwords, authentication keys, key pairs, security keys, or other credentials.
PasswordAuthentication is set to NO in sshd_config.
The application does not make use of any encryption techniques.

Navigate to your Amazon EC2 console and verify that you're in the correct region.

Select the server to display your metadata page and choose the Status checks tab at the bottom of the page to review if your status checks passed or failed.
