Automation has transformed firewall policy management and simplified compliance workflows

    Reviewed on May 16, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

I have been using AlgoSec  for the last three years.

I primarily use AlgoSec  for firewall policy management, network security visibility, and compliance monitoring, and also for automating security policy changes across my hybrid infrastructure.

One common example in handling firewall access requests for new applications or services is using AlgoSec, where I can automatically analyze the traffic path, identify affected firewalls, and validate whether the requested rule policies comply with existing security policies before deployment. For compliance monitoring, I use AlgoSec to regularly review firewall rules and identify outdated, unused, or overly permissive policies, which helps maintain compliance standards and reduce security risks.

    What is most valuable?

The best features of AlgoSec in my experience are its firewall policy management, automated risk analysis, and network visibility capabilities. The application connectivity mapping feature is especially useful because it provides a clear view of traffic flows and helps identify potential security or connectivity issues quickly. Another standout feature is the automation of security policy changes, which reduces manual effort and speeds up approval workflows. The compliance monitoring and audit reporting features are also very valuable for maintaining security standards and simplifying audit preparation.

The application connectivity mapping feature in AlgoSec has been very useful for troubleshooting and change management. One specific example was during the deployment of a new internal application where users were experiencing connectivity issues between different network segments. Using the connectivity mapping feature, I was able to quickly visualize the traffic path, identify which firewall rules were blocking the communication, and determine the exact devices involved. This reduced troubleshooting time significantly and helped me implement the required policy changes much faster while maintaining security compliance.

AlgoSec has positively impacted my organization by improving network security visibility, reducing manual effort in firewall management, and streamlining compliance processes. It helped my team and organization to automate security policy reviews and change management tasks, which reduced configuration errors and improved operational efficiency.

Since implementing AlgoSec, I have seen noticeable improvements in operational efficiency and policy management. Firewall change request processing has become much faster because many analysis and validation tasks were automated instead of being handled manually. I also reduced the number of unused and overly permissive firewall rules through regular policy reviews, which improved my overall security posture.

    What needs improvement?

AlgoSec could be improved with a more modern and intuitive user interface, especially for new users managing complex environments. Some advanced configuration and reporting sections can feel slightly complicated and could benefit from simpler navigation and customization options.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for the last 5.5 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    AlgoSec is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

AlgoSec has scaled very well as my network environment and infrastructure have grown over time. It continues to handle increasing firewall policies, cloud resources, and network complexity without major operational issues.

How are customer service and support?

    Customer support is the best.

    What was our ROI?

I have seen a strong return on investment with AlgoSec. The biggest improvements were time saving and reduced manual workload through automated firewall policies, compliance reporting, and change management workflows. Tasks that previously required significant manual review could be completed much faster, which improved team productivity and allowed the security team to focus more on higher-priority activities instead of routine policy management.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with AlgoSec pricing and licensing was generally positive. The setup process was smooth, and the licensing model was manageable for my enterprise environment. While the solution can be relatively expensive, the automation, compliance support, and operational efficiency it provides make the investment worthwhile.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for organizations considering AlgoSec is to clearly define their network security and compliance goals before deployment and take time to properly configure the platform for their environment. I would also recommend investing in initial training so the team can fully utilize the advanced policy management and compliance capabilities. I gave this review a rating of 10.

Automation has transformed firewall policy reviews and now improves network visibility daily

    Reviewed on May 16, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use AlgoSec  for network security management, firewall policy analysis, and automating security policy changes across the organization. It helps me improve the visibility into network traffic, identify risky firewall rules, ensure compliance, and streamline security operations.

One specific example of how I use AlgoSec  for automating security policy changes or improving visibility was during a firewall rule change request for a new terminal application development. Before using AlgoSec, the process was mostly manual and took a lot of time to verify whether the requested access would conflict with existing security policies. With AlgoSec, I was able to automatically analyze the traffic path, identify the exact firewalls involved, and validate the required rule changes before implementation. It also highlighted a few unused and overly permissive rules that could have created security risks. That improved visibility across the network and reduced the time needed for approval and deployment significantly.

    What is most valuable?

The best features of AlgoSec, in my experience, are its firewall policy management, automated risk analysis, and network visibility features. The application connectivity mapping is especially useful because it gives a clear view of traffic flows across the network and helps identify misconfigurations quickly. Another strong feature is the automation of security policy changes, which reduces the manual effort and speeds up firewall rule approvals.

AlgoSec has positively impacted my organization by improving efficiency, reducing manual work, and increasing visibility into my network security environment. Tasks such as firewall rule analysis, policy reviews, and change management are now much faster and more organized.

    What needs improvement?

One area where AlgoSec could improve is the user interface and dashboard customization. While the platform is powerful, some sections can feel complex for new users and navigation could be more intuitive.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for the last seven months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

My experience with AlgoSec has been generally positive in terms of performance and reliability. The platform has been stable in my environment, and I have not experienced any major downtime issues. Most day-to-day operations such as policy analysis, traffic flow checks, and compliance reporting work consistently and reliably.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

AlgoSec has handled scalability quite well in my environment as the network infrastructure has grown. As I added more firewall policies, cloud resources, and network segments, sometimes it leads to slightly longer analysis or reporting times, but the platform has kept up with my operational and security requirements.

AlgoSec has scaled well with my growing network environment. As I added more firewall rules, cloud resources, and network segments, it continued to provide good visibility and centralized policy management without major issues. The automation features also helped my team manage increased complexity.

How are customer service and support?

AlgoSec's documentation and training resources are very helpful.

    What was our ROI?

I have seen a positive return on investment with AlgoSec. The biggest benefit was time-saving through automation of firewall policy reviews and compliance reporting, which reduced the manual workload for the security team. It also helped improve operational efficiency and reduced the risk of configuration errors, saving both time and resources overall.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with AlgoSec pricing and licensing was generally positive. The setup process was straightforward, and the licensing model was manageable for my environment. While the solution can be expensive for smaller organizations, the automation and security management features justify the cost for larger or growing infrastructures.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for organizations considering AlgoSec is to clearly plan out network security and compliance requirements before deployment so you can fully utilize its automation and visibility features. It is especially valuable for environments with multiple firewalls, hybrid infrastructure, or complex security policies. I give this review a rating of ten out of ten.

Finally, a Single Pane of Glass for my AWS and Legacy On-Prem Firewalls

    Reviewed on May 14, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The standout feature of AlgoSec Horizon to provide a unified "top-down" view of our entire security posture across a very messy hybrid environment.

The automated risk analysis is excellent. it doesn't just tell you the rule is "risky" it explains why based on the actual traffic flow and the sensitivity of the connected assets. it's also helped us significantly with the Rule Cleanup.

The absolute part is that it finally bridges the translation gap between App Dev teams and the security team. In most tools, you're just looking the IP addresses and ports, but the horizon's AppViz component lets us see the business context. When a developer asks why their connection is being dropped, i don't have to spend an hour digging through files, I can pull up the Application Connectivity Map see exactly which security policy is bottleneck

What i like the best is:

Intuitive Dashboard: The interface is clean and easy to navigate, making it simple to check compliance status, application connectivity, and risk posture.

Proactive Risk Alerts: Horizon flags potential misconfigurations or risky rules before they cause issues, which builds confidence in daily operations.

Application-Cenrtic View: Instead of focusing only on firewalls or devices, it shows how applications are impacted, which is far more meaningful for end-users.

Self-Service Queries: Users can quickly validate connectivity or compliance without waiting for IT invention.

Policy Automation: Automates firewall and cloud security group changes, reducing manual errors and speeding up approvals.

Compliance Reporting: Generates audit-ready reports for standards like PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and GDPR, saving significant time during assessments.

Scalability: Handles large enterprise environments without performance degradation.

Don't just look as it as a firewall too, Use the application-centric mapping. It makes explaining security risks to non-technical stakeholders much eaiser.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I'm being honest, the initial investigation and mapping phase can be bit of a heavy lift. It isn't necessarily a flaw in the software, but rather a reflection of its depth-beacause Horizon looks so deep into the traffic flows, you really have to ensure your network topology is accurately documented on your end first. If you have "dark corners" in your network or documented legacy segments, the tool will find them, but it means you'll spend some extra time in the early weeks fine-turning your collectors to get the full picture.

Another minor pain point is the Reporting UI customization. While the standard compliance templates for PCI and SOC2 are great out of the box, trying a build highly specific, custom-branded report for internal stakeholders has a bit of a learning curve. I found myself wishing for a slightly more intuitive drag and drop report builder for those one-off executive presentationss.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest headache we faced was "Rule Bloat" and the fear of unknown. We have thousand of legacy rules, and nobody wanted to touch them because we aren't 100% sure what they were connected to. Algosec Horizon solved this by giving us a "Safety Net". It identifies redundant or shadowed rules and simulates the impact of change before we push it. The benefit? I don't have to worry about a routine cleanup causing a massive production outage because a legacy app was hidden behind an old rule.

It also tackled our Audit Anxiety. In the past, whenever the auditors came knocking for PCI of SOC2 compliance, it was a "all-hands-on-deck" situation for two weeks just to gather the data. Now we use Horizon to pull a "Continuous Compliance" report. It constantly monitors our posture, so we know where the gaps are before the audits starts. This has turned a two-week manual nightmare into task that takes us about half a day.

Finally, it's bridged the gap between our Cloud and On-prem teams. Usually, these two groups speak different languages- one is looking AWs Security Groups and the other at physical Check point or Fortinet firewalls. Horizon gives us a single "source of truth" if a developer says their app can't talk to the database, we can see the whole path-from the cloud instance, through the VPN, to the on-prem server-in one view. That alone has cut our troubleshooting time by at least 60%.

User-friendly audit workflows have simplified quarterly firewall reviews and reduced redundant rules

    Reviewed on May 14, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We are new to AlgoSec . This tool is new for us and we are going to use it for audit purposes for the client.

We will use AlgoSec  for quarterly purposes where we will be working on the rules applied on the firewalls, Panorama, and Palo Altos.

AlgoSec will help us identify the number of shadowed rules and redundant rules that have been applied on particular firewalls. These reports are being generated depending upon sector-wise data that we will be creating. As we have nine sectors in total, we will be defining our firewalls based on these nine sectors and then accordingly we will generate the report as per a single sector.

    What is most valuable?

AlgoSec is very user-friendly, easy to navigate, and performance-wise the reports are being generated with accuracy of the data that we are looking for. There is no latency in the tool as well as the application.

All the workflows in AlgoSec are quite simple and to the point where we don't have to provide any extra information; just pinpoint information is enough to get the results.

Everything seems to be up to the mark with top-notch configuration and top-notch features. The reports and data are working collaboratively fine and are easy to navigate and understand. For even a new user, it is very user-friendly.

    What needs improvement?

Currently everything seems to be fine with AlgoSec. There is no need for any improvement at this time, but in the future if required, we will let the team know.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working for the past eight years in the current field.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

AlgoSec is stable based on my initial impressions and expectations.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

AlgoSec is easy in terms of scalability.

How are customer service and support?

We did interact with customer support, and they seem to be quite friendly and helpful. The SLAs to connect with the customer are less compared to the previous tool, which is Skybox. Within hours we can get our queries resolved.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were using Skybox earlier. Skybox became unavailable, so we switched to AlgoSec.

    How was the initial setup?

AlgoSec is yet to be deployed in the system, but we are in talks with AlgoSec team to get it deployed as soon as possible.

    What was our ROI?

Nothing as of now because the tool is yet to be deployed. I cannot commit on this.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The experience with AlgoSec's pricing, setup cost, and licensing is fine. Compared to the last tool which we were using, it's quite cheaper and the licensing cost is less compared to the previous tools. It is pocket-friendly as well.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did evaluate other options before choosing AlgoSec. We evaluated Tufin.

What other advice do I have?

AlgoSec is very user-friendly, very accurate, and provides pinpoint information as per required by the customer or the client. We can definitely advise other people to switch to AlgoSec. I would rate this product a ten out of ten.

What do you like best about the product?
I have been working with AlgoSec ASMS and Horizon for more than 2 years in our environment, mainly for firewall policy management, rule analysis, and risk visibility, and change tracking across multiple security devices. From my experience as an administrator, the platform has been very reliable and useful for day to day security operations. The application connectivity flow analysis is one of the most useful features for our team. It helps us understand which firewall rules and network paths are involved in specific applications, which saves a significant amount of troubleshooting time during change requests and incident investigations. The risk analysis and policy recommendation features are also very practical because they help avoid unnecessary or overly permissive rules in the environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, there is not much to dislike. Some advanced reporting and workflow configuration took a little time to fully understand in the beginning, especially in a large environment. but after regular usage the platform became very easy to manage. Overall, my experience with AlgoSec Horizon has been smooth and positive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I appreciate is the integration support with multiple firewall vendors. In our setup, managing security policies across different platforms became much more organized after implementing AlgosSec. The policy cleanup and rule recertification process also improved because unused and risky rules are easier to identify and review. I am working with Multiple India biggest companies like reliance and ICICI. And with the help of Fireflow i have cleaned more than 10000 rules. It helps me lot.
