You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you choose to run this Joomla server. The many dimensions listed are all AWS instance types, from small shared options like t2.nano and t3.micro up to large compute, memory, storage, and GPU instances like x1e.32xlarge and u-24tb1.metal. The software stack stays the same across every option. Pricing scales with the instance's compute, memory, and storage capacity, so you select a size that matches your workload. Billing runs on actual usage hours, with no upfront term commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What software comes preinstalled on the instance I pay for hourly?
The image ships with the full LAMP stack: Apache Web Server, MySQL Server, and phpMyadmin, running on Ubuntu 24.04, with Joomla configured on top. This stack stays identical no matter which instance size you select, so the hourly rate only reflects the compute you choose.
Am I charged the software rate when the instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the software fee. Underlying AWS storage for the volume may still incur separate AWS charges while the instance is stopped, but the software license bills on active hours.
How do I choose between the small and large instance types listed?
Every option runs the same Joomla stack, so the choice is about capacity. Small shared types like t2.nano or t3.micro fit light traffic and testing. Larger compute, memory, storage, or GPU types suit heavier sites and more concurrent visitors. The hourly rate rises with the instance's capacity.
