The software itself is free to use. You pay only for the AWS EC2 instance you choose to run it on, billed per hour. The dimensions list 35 instance types across two families. The t3 and t3a types are general-purpose, burstable options in sizes from micro up to 2xlarge. The c4, c5, c5a, and c5n types are compute-optimized, ranging from large up to metal and 24xlarge configurations. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates because they provide more compute capacity. Pick the size that matches your workload; there are no tiers or add-ons.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You pay the AWS EC2 instance rate for the instance type you run. The MonetDB software carries no license charge. Each dimension meters running instance-hours for that specific instance type. Larger instance types provide more compute and cost more per hour. You pick one type and run it.
The hourly rate meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software line for that period. Underlying AWS storage attached to the instance may still incur separate AWS fees. To halt hourly charges fully, stop the instance when it is not in use.
No. The hourly charge covers the running instance only. Community help is available through public forums. Business support is a separate service offering from the vendor, such as prepaid hours or annual support. Contact the vendor to arrange a support contract.

What do you like best about the product?
It's processing speed of queries was too good and it was a open source which was too helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial setup process was little difficult and i am facing some issues while connecting it with python.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It deals with large datasets and its performance while processing the sql queries was good. It provides good quality of work for me.

What do you like best about the product?
It uses standard SQL with makes it simple to use and has easier adaptation. It's architecture is based on columnar design which makes analysis of big data fast. It is easy to implement as it support cross platform and light weight. It has good support as it is open source its community is really helpful and active. Its in-memory and bulk loading features is well implemented as I frequently use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has good integration support but I had faced issue while integrating it with python connector for my data science workflow. Also it has limited indexing option compared to its competitors and it also lack auto scaling.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves our data warehousing problem and helps us in cross data analysis and run statistical analytics on our IoT sensor data for research. It is also cost effective solution compared to others and also helps in avoiding time consuming tasks for moving data for analysis as it allows natively run python scripts with connector.

We were trying to find something which is PostgreSQL alternative (relational database) and support XML

Only JDBC , ODBC supported and some native C library

We wanted to find PosgreSQL alternative with XML support, we made PoC and migrate some XML data .
