    Overview

This product has charges associated with it for seller support, which include support for launching instances or clusters as well as for running the apps or modifying the bash scripts included for automation or scheduling jobs in clusters. Basic support to get started with the apps is also included. The image includes an integration of MPI, netCDF, HDF5, and other tools to maximize performance in tightly coupled simulations and other parallel processing tasks. The image includes installation of WRFv4.8, WPS, CMAQv5.5, MCIP, BCON and ICON. WRF is a mesoscopic model used by thousands of users worldwide, and able to generate forecasts for a wide range of atmospheric conditions and resolutions. These forecasts serve for operational functions and research purposes. WPS includes many preprocessing tools used to prepare WRF simulations. CMAQv5.5 represents state-of-the-art air quality modeling able to forecast concentration of atmospheric species such as ozone, particulate matters and other airborne pollutants. MCIP, BCON and ICON are preprocessing apps used by CMAQ. The image also includes added apps to download meteorological and air quality data in an accelerated fashion, which are needed to generate the initial and boundary conditions by the apps. Support also includes customization of these preprocessing apps to the needs of users.

    Highlights

    • Integration of MPI, netCDF, HDF5, and other tools for peak parallel processing performance
    • Installation of WRFv4.8, WPS, CMAQv5.5, MCIP, BCON and ICON including customized scripts to run CMAQ in either single instances or clusters
    • App to download and/or modify meteorological and air quality data in order to generate the initial and boundary conditions

64-bit (Arm) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Version release notes

Release v6.1.6 of Odycloud NWP & AQM with added preprocessing apps and support upgrades the image to the latest version of pc (v3.15.0) with Ubuntu 24.04. The image includes WRF-ARW v4.7.1 and the recently released WRF-ARW v4.8 along with a more robust compilation of CMAQ v5.5 to perform air quality simulations. The CMAQ subdirectory holds 4 different compilations depending on the chemical mechanism and deposition module to be used: cb6r5_ae7_aq_m3dry, cb6r5_ae7_aq_stage, cracmm2_m3dry and cracmm2_stage. Usage instructions have been updated.

    Additional details

    Usage instructions

The image contains all the packages needed by the HPC software and running the apps should be straightforward: Step 1: Select the image from your console. Step 2: Choose an arm-64 instance and configure the instance like any other Linux instance including a SG meeting your needs. Step 3: Connect to the instance using SSH via putty, MobaXterm, WicSCP or a similar app. Step 4: Log in using ubuntu as the username. Step 5: Configure your credentials if you want to transfer files buckets. Step 6: Navigate through the subdirectories and run the apps like in any other system (cloud or in-premises); WRF can be run directly (e.g. mpirun -np 32 ./wrf.exe) but CMAQ requires using one the batch scripts added to the image. Step 7: To use the added apps able to download meteorological and air quality data in an accelerated fashion, move to the /home/ubuntu/DATA subdirectory and run the app by invoking download.exe. Step 8: Once you have completed the simulations, do not forget to transfer any permanent files to either buckets or to your premises and terminate the instance or the meter will keep running. Full documentation on these steps and how to use clusters are available at https://www.odycloud-hpc.com/images .
