Experience-to-Action for AWS Digital Channels with Dynatrace

     Info
Turns digital experience degradation into prioritized operational action for applications delivered through Amazon CloudFront, Amazon Route 53, Elastic Load Balancing and Amazon API Gateway. Critical journeys and Dynatrace Real User Monitoring and Synthetic Monitoring evidence are connected to the appropriate ServiceNow process and ownership context. The result is clearer prioritization, more consistent ownership and faster coordination.

    Overview

Digital experience degradation can affect critical journeys differently by channel, region, application version or journey stage. Without defined impact criteria and ownership, the operational response may not reflect the experience perceived by users and the business. This offer uses Dynatrace Real User Monitoring and Synthetic Monitoring to observe critical journeys, user actions and availability, while Apdex, experience SLOs and Davis Problems identify degradation and probable cause. The AWS delivery path is where most experience degradation becomes measurable before it is reported. Amazon CloudFront provides edge request, error-rate, cache-hit and latency metrics per distribution and per-request detail through real-time logs; Amazon Route 53 health checks and resolver metrics provide DNS and endpoint availability from multiple locations; Elastic Load Balancing provides target health, HTTP code distribution and target response time; Amazon API Gateway provides per-stage latency and 4XX and 5XX rates; and AWS WAF provides blocked and rate-limited request counts that often explain sudden journey failures. Correlating these signals with Real User Monitoring separates a client-side or third-party problem from an AWS delivery-path problem, and that distinction determines routing and ownership. ServiceNow supports ITSM Incident, Change, SLA and Major Incident handling, routes work through CMDB and services, and uses CSM when external-customer impact applies. The incident states whether the degradation is at the edge, at the load balancer, at the API tier, at the origin or on the client side, and that attribution drives the assignment group, with Amazon Route 53 health-check status and AWS WAF counters attached as AWS-native corroborating evidence. Approved AWS actions such as Amazon CloudFront cache invalidation or origin failover can be executed through Amazon EventBridge and AWS Lambda after ServiceNow Change approval. Alert-only notification, a manual war room, rule-based routing or public ITSM incident notes remain as documented alternatives.

    Highlights

    • Amazon CloudFront edge metrics and real-time logs correlated with Dynatrace Real User Monitoring, so the incident separates edge, load balancer, API tier, origin and client-side causes instead of reporting a generic slowdown.
    • Amazon Route 53 health checks, Elastic Load Balancing and Amazon API Gateway HTTP code and latency distributions and AWS WAF blocked and rate-limited counts attribute degradation to a specific tier and drive the assignment group.
    • Segmentation by channel, region, application version and journey stage, with Apdex and experience SLOs feeding ServiceNow Incident, SLA and Major Incident processes, and CSM when external customers are affected.
