Overview
DICOM Store SCP for AWS HealthImaging is a fully serverless, scalable solution for receiving and processing DICOM medical images in the cloud. Built on Amazon ECS Fargate and integrated with AWS HealthImaging, it enables automated DICOM ingestion workflows from imaging modalities or PACS systems. Using standard DICOM C-STORE operations, clients can transmit images to a high-availability endpoint deployed in your own VPC.
Once received, the DICOM data is automatically imported into a HealthImaging datastore using AWS Step Functions and Lambda-based orchestration. Metadata and job status are tracked via Amazon DynamoDB, while S3 buckets provide secure, encrypted intermediate and result storage. TLS support, configurable AE Titles, and VPC-level security settings make it compliant with healthcare connectivity requirements.
This CloudFormation-based deployment requires no custom infrastructure. Customers can quickly launch the PACS server, connect their DICOM client, and begin storing images in AWS HealthImaging - all with minimal operational overhead and full integration with AWS native services.
Note: This software is not a medical device. It is intended to support imaging data management workflows and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Intended Use
This software is designed to support DICOM data ingestion and cloud storage workflows. It is not intended for diagnostic interpretation, clinical decision support, or direct patient care.

Container image
Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.
