Overview
Overview
Use Ollama for local model inference and Open WebUI for browser-based interaction in an Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS environment. The documented configuration connects the WebUI to the local Ollama service and includes a preloaded Qwen2.5 7B Q4_K_M model, so the model is available without an initial model pull. Included configuration
- Ollama runs as a systemd service and provides the local inference API on port 11434.
- Open WebUI 0.11.3 runs as a Docker container and is configured to connect to Ollama on the instance.
- Qwen2.5 7B Q4_K_M (qwen2.5:7b) is documented as preloaded.
- Open WebUI application data is stored in a persistent Docker volume; the container has a restart policy for service recovery.
- The documented GPU baseline uses an NVIDIA Tesla T4. GPU availability and inference performance depend on the selected EC2 instance, driver, model, and workload. Documented deployment baseline
Product records describe functional checks on Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS x86_64 and a g4dn.xlarge instance with Tesla T4, including GPU recognition, local Ollama API inference, container health, and the WebUI-to-Ollama connection. These are documented historical build-instance checks, not final candidate AMI acceptance. Revalidate the selected software versions, image digest, networking, restart behavior, and persistence on the final AMI before release and production use. Security and customer responsibilities
Ollama API authentication is not enabled by default. Keep port 11434 private and do not expose it to untrusted networks. Restrict WebUI access on port 8080 to trusted sources, and configure customer-managed authentication, TLS, and network controls as required. Customers are responsible for IAM, access management, data governance, backups, instance selection, and ongoing software and model updates. Pricing
Marketplace software charges, if approved for publication, apply to the seller-provided integration and prepared deployment configuration described above. Amazon EC2 infrastructure and any separately disclosed third-party charges are billed independently.
Highlights
- Combines Ollama inference with the Open WebUI browser interface.
- Documents a preloaded Qwen2.5 7B model and persistent WebUI data storage.
- Includes a documented GPU functional baseline on NVIDIA Tesla T4; verify compatibility for the selected instance.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
This release provides an Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS environment integrating Ollama with Open WebUI and a preloaded Qwen2.5 7B Q4_K_M model. The documented configuration runs Ollama as a systemd service and Open WebUI as a Docker container, with persistent WebUI data storage.
Included software:
- Ollama (version to be confirmed on the final AMI)
- Open WebUI 0.11.3 (image digest to be confirmed)
- Qwen2.5 7B Q4_K_M (qwen2.5:7b; redistribution and artifact identity to be confirmed)
- Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS
Customer responsibilities and limitations:
- Confirm the final AMI's software and model versions before production use.
- Ollama API authentication is not enabled by default. Keep the API private or use customer-managed authentication and network controls.
- Restrict access to the WebUI to trusted sources and configure customer security controls, backups, and updates.
Additional details
Usage instructions
SSH to the instance and log in as 'ubuntu' using the key pair selected at launch. Additional information may be found at: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/AccessingInstancesLinux.html
After entering the system, check the README file at /home/ubuntu/README.md. It contains the Ollama and Open WebUI configuration, preloaded model usage, service management, network and security information.
Ollama API authentication is not enabled by default. Keep port 11434 private, and restrict Open WebUI access to trusted users and networks.
