Streamlined Our Data Processes with Progress Chef

    Reviewed on Jul 23, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like how Progress Chef structures workflows and clearly defines each step in the process. It helps me track who is responsible for what and ensures tasks move smoothly from one stage to the next, improving coordination and reducing delays in handling survey data. The setup was smooth and easy to follow, allowing us to configure workflows and start tracking tasks without major issues. It has made task management more structured, allowing me to prioritize better and identify delays early, improving efficiency. I also appreciate how it coordinates tasks and tracks progress across different systems, making the overall workflow more organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far everything works well for the team especially in terms of tracking and managing workflows. However, when handling large volumes of data it can take time to locate specific tasks or processing stages. Improving filtering and search options such as filtering by stages, data type or priority, would make it easier to manage workloads more efficiently. This would help save time and make it easier to focus on critical tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Progress Chef to manage survey data workflows, structure tasks, and track progress. It solves coordination challenges, reduces confusion, and prevents bottlenecks, improving efficiency. I appreciate how it defines workflow stages and task ownership, helping prioritize better and identify delays early.

I like that Progress Chef is easy to use, keeps my work organized, and helps me track my progress in one place. It helps me save time by keeping all my tasks in one place, so I can easily see what needs to be done, update my progress, and stay organized without missing important work. The initial setup was easy and straightforward, and I was able to start using it quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the system can be a bit slow, and I think it could be improved by making it faster and adding more helpful notifications or reminders.

Powerful Automation with Some Learning Curve

    Reviewed on Jul 21, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Progress Chef for its automatic healing feature, which saves me time by eliminating midnight emergencies or weekend calls since the system repairs itself. This gives me more time to sleep and spend with my family on weekends. I also like the clear visibility provided by a single dashboard, allowing me to see the status of every computer. It speeds up troubleshooting as I can quickly see the cause of system failure and eliminates guesswork, providing visibility on all computers and indicating which ones are safe and which need updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find Progress Chef very powerful but it has some limitations for me. It can be very confusing and complex for beginners like me because it requires certain skills in the programming field. The loading speed is also an issue when adding a massive number of computers. A major drawback for me is needing to install a background program on every single computer it manages. The initial setup is difficult and complex, as it's not just about installing one piece of software but also other components like Chef Servers, workstations, and clients. Understanding Ruby programming is a must to start configuring the environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Progress Chef to manage computers and servers automatically, solving human error problems, saving time, fixing poor documentation, and discovering security blind spots. It rebuilds servers instantly after crashes and provides clear visibility and automatic healing, reducing emergencies and guesswork.

What do you like best about the product?
I like Progress Chef's task tracking and visibility features the most. They provide a clear view of batch progress, showing what has been completed, what is still in progress, and what needs attention. This has reduced manual follow-up and improved workflow efficiency. It helps maintain accuracy and consistency by giving real-time visibility into all records being processed. I can quickly identify incomplete or incorrect entries and ensure they are corrected before finalization, which improves overall quality. The initial setup was straightforward and easy to understand, allowing us to start tracking and managing records almost immediately.
