You pay through a single consumption billing unit that covers all Claude Platform usage. This unit applies across every model and feature, so there are no separate plans or tiers to choose. Your cost scales with how much you use. Usage is measured by input and output tokens, which are the units of text the models process and generate. Different models carry different token rates, and effort or reasoning settings affect how many tokens a task consumes. Options like prompt caching and batch processing can lower token costs. You are billed based on total consumption.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What is one consumption billing unit measured in?
Usage is measured in tokens, the chunks of text a model reads and writes. Input tokens cover the text you send. Output tokens cover the text the model generates. Each model charges a different rate per million input tokens and per million output tokens.
How do input and output tokens combine into my bill?
Both charge separately and add together on the same invoice. Output tokens carry a higher rate than input tokens for a given model. Long generated responses raise output charges, while large prompts raise input charges. Total consumption across both drives your cost.
Can I lower my token costs without changing models?
Yes. Prompt caching reuses repeated input across requests and can cut costs up to 90% on cached content. Batch processing groups non-urgent requests and can cut costs up to 50%. Running inference in a US-only region raises input and output rates by 1.1x.

Strong LLM Support for Coding, Documentation, and Research
Reviewed on Sep 03, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It provides great support for coding, development, and documentation, mainly because it offers strong LLM models based on benchmarks. I also use it a lot during research and literature surveys.
What do you dislike about the product?
The free-tier limit feels quite restrictive, and it drains quickly if you’re trying to use it for free. Also, I think the paid plan could be made cheaper.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me solve issues during debugging and when doing deep research on specific topics. I used it during my project, PayProtect, where I provided a sample dataset to Claude, and it generated code for me.

A Practical AI Tool for Corporate Compliance Work
Reviewed on Sep 02, 2026

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Claude is that it is useful when I have to work through a detailed client query or understand a topic before giving my advice. I use it for researching Companies Act provisions, FEMA/RBI matters, compliance requirements and also for reviewing or improving documents and explanations prepared for clients.
It is particularly helpful when I have a lot of information to go through because I can discuss the matter step by step and ask follow-up questions. In my day-to-day consulting work, this saves me time in the initial research and helps me look at a client issue from different angles before I finalize my advice.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I dislike about Claude is that, for professional compliance work, I still need to verify the information from the actual Act, rules, circulars or regulatory sources before relying on the answer. Sometimes the response can sound very confident even when a particular provision or interpretation needs further checking.
Also, for some detailed client matters, I have to give quite a lot of background and context before getting the exact answer I need. But overall, I find it useful as a research and thinking assistant rather than treating it as the final source of legal or regulatory advice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Claude helps me mainly with the research and analysis part of my consulting work. I use it when I receive a client query and need to understand a particular Companies Act provision, FEMA/RBI requirement, compliance process or regulatory issue before working on the final advice.
It also helps me review lengthy information, prepare initial drafts, compare different requirements and structure my thoughts before communicating with clients. This reduces the time I spend on the initial research and helps me handle multiple client queries more efficiently. I still verify important compliance matters from the original laws, rules and circulars, but Claude is useful as a first-level research and analysis tool in my daily work.

What I like about Claude is that it’s the best AI I’ve used for my project work and for generating code. It also supports me with day-to-day tasks, and it’s the AI I’ve experienced with the fewest hallucinations so far.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, there’s nothing I dislike about Claude.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem Claude is solving is providing a platform where prompting and asking questions has become so simple and easy that you don’t need any prior AI experience to use it.

Turns Long, Messy Documents Into Clear “A Helpful AI Assistant for Writing and Documentation Writing
Reviewed on Aug 30, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like Claude’s ability to understand long and messy documents and turn them into clear, well-structured content. The writing feels natural, and I usually need less editing, especially for emails, summaries, and documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main thing I dislike is the usage limit. When I’m working on a long document or doing several tasks back-to-back, it can be frustrating to hit the limit in the middle of the work. I also feel that the browsing/internet capabilities could be better on the standard plan. And while the browser experience works fine, I’d prefer a more complete desktop experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Claude helps us save time on day-to-day communication and documentation work. We use it to turn rough notes, technical information, and longer documents into clear emails, summaries, proposals, and internal documentation. It also helps us structure information faster when communicating with clients and teams. The biggest benefit is reducing the time spent on repetitive writing and documentation, so we can focus more on client requirements and actual business work.
