AWS Adoption Roadmap – Phase 2: Planning and Mobilization The goal of the mobilization phase is to construct the foundation tooling, process, and culture to support and accelerate cloud migration initiatives. Depending on your Cloud maturity, the planning and mobilization approach may focus on one or more of the following areas: • Business Case Identification Establish the primary Cloud migration drivers, motivations, and use cases, as well as measurable KPIs that will drive your plan and priorities. These drivers may include: o Cost optimization o Data center exits o Operational efficiencies o Application innovation o Etc.

• Portfolio Discovery Using the AWS Migration Hub and the AWS Application Discovery Service, CEI can scan your data center to discover applications and platforms running within your environment today. This analysis identifies not only running processes and applications, but also associated server resource usage, application interdependencies, and estimated hosting costs within AWS. Additionally, CEI can automatically assess and inventory targeted data and analytic workloads through AWS Database Migration Services and the AWS DMS Fleet Advisor.

• Migration Planning and Rationalization CEI can help you build a Cloud migration backlog based on analysis designed to help you understand: o Workloads and inter-workload dependencies o Application criticality and lifecycle o Rationalization and migration are aligned with the Total Cost of Ownership and Business Case o How each workload should be handled considering the 7 Rs (Retire, Retain, Relocate, Rehost, Replatform, Re-architect, Repurchase) o How to create an iterative roadmap with waves of migrations based on workload groupings and dependencies

• Landing Zone Architecture Prior to deploying any workloads to AWS, we will ensure the AWS fabric is configured based on your priorities and needs. This includes appropriate AWS account structure for separation of concerns, identity & access management, monitoring and logging, automation, cloud native and/or hybrid networking, governance guardrails and oversight, data protection, etc. CEI will work alongside your team to configure your landing zone architecture to assure you get the most from your AWS investments.

• People and Culture Cloud migration often requires organizational and operational change to ensure a smooth transition and a continued path to Cloud optimization. CEI facilitates this with: o AWS Training: Collaboration with your team to ensure you have the necessary skills to operate within the new Cloud environments, as well as understand the overarching strategy and how migration will occur. o Team Structure: Create team models that address both Cloud governance and platform enablement.
