Overview
Vcinity Ultimate X (ULT X) is a high performance and distributed data access and movement solution. It is easy to integrate and presents itself as a simple shared storage tier to applications using industry standard NFSv3/NFSv4/SMB interfaces. ULT X AWS (this VM listing) supports up to 2Gbps throughput and ULT X AWS F1 (FPGA accelerated) supports up to 8Gbps throughput.
Whether it is used to move data fast or enable remote data access, Vcinity delivers compelling value through a variety of use cases. A few customer case studies are depicted below:
Using the data movement capability:
- A large utility customer reduces redundant storage and data transfer cost by moving data across edge, prem, and AWS cloud 400% faster--minimizing disruption to business continuity during infrastructure changes as well as enabling quicker utilization of AWS cloud services.
- A cruise line reduces an automated copy job being moved from ship to shore from 48 hours to 90 minutes--improving customer experience and enabling seamless on-ship operations.
Using the remote data access capability:
- An M&E services provider not only improves project security by hosting a single copy of sensitive video data, but also reduces lead times for completing a project by two weeks, resulting in estimated savings of $7M and 10 to 1 reduction in manual coordination of data.
- A VFX company quickly and securely supports its production capacity by keeping data on-prem and bursting to the AWS rendering farm.
For all instances except i3en: Includes up to 2Gbps (up to 20TB per day) and 1TB ULT X File System (FS) license.
For i3en instances (for use cases requiring ephemeral storage): Includes up to 2Gbps (up to 20TB per day) and ULT X FS licenses based on the drive capacity of the instance e.g., i3en.2xlarge pricing includes 5TB ULT X FS license.
App-, cloud-, and WAN-agnostic, ULT X is easy to deploy. ULT X offers flexible deployment options to fit your bespoke enterprise infrastructure needs. On premise, ULT X is available in software (bare metal, KVM, ESXi) and scale-up options for higher throughput.
Highlights
- Results of AWS validated testing (protocol = NFSv4; datastore = FSxZ) moving various datasets from MD to us-west-2 comparing traditional TCP and Vcinity:- Very Small Datasets (1M - 2/4/8k files) = 12x Faster (than without Vcinity)- Small Datasets (100K - 64/128k files) = 76x Faster- Medium Datasets (123 - 5GB files) = 1.7x Faster- Large Datasets (1 - 500GB file) = 1.7x Faster- Mixed Datasets (combination of all sizes) = 6.4x FasterDetails: https://vimeo.com/861355972/ca39a85381?share=copy
- Enable faster: data access, cloud data migrations, AI & ML execution- With: less wait time, fewer copies, and reduced data exposure- To drive faster: time-to-insight, time-to-results, and time-to-value- To achieve: improved decision efficacy, more efficient operations, higher customer satisfaction, and overall competitive advantage
- Two great capabilities in one great solution:- High-speed data transfer (up to 76x faster than anything you have seen before)- Remote data access (real-time access to data you do not want to or cannot move)

Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
