By reducing the impact of latency and distance, Vcinity's patented solution, Ultimate X (ULT X), revolutionizes data movement and access--providing customers with real-time data access to drive immediate outcomes and business value. Perfect for file and object workloads with latency greater than/equal to 15ms, Vcinity creates a bridge between source and target, creating an "HOV lane-like experience" to either move data up to 76x faster than before or enable local-like access to remote data assets.
Vcinity Ultimate X (ULT X) is a high performance and distributed data access and movement solution. It is easy to integrate and presents itself as a simple shared storage tier to applications using industry standard NFSv3/NFSv4/SMB interfaces. ULT X AWS supports up to 2Gbps throughput.
Whether it is used to move data fast or enable remote data access, Vcinity delivers compelling value through a variety of use cases. A few customer case studies are depicted below:
Using the data movement capability:
A large utility customer reduces redundant storage and data transfer cost by moving data across edge, prem, and AWS cloud 400% faster--minimizing disruption to business continuity during infrastructure changes as well as enabling quicker utilization of AWS cloud services.
A cruise line reduces an automated copy job being moved from ship to shore from 48 hours to 90 minutes--improving customer experience and enabling seamless on-ship operations.
Using the remote data access capability:
An M&E services provider not only improves project security by hosting a single copy of sensitive video data, but also reduces lead times for completing a project by two weeks, resulting in estimated savings of $7M and 10 to 1 reduction in manual coordination of data.
A VFX company quickly and securely supports its production capacity by keeping data on-prem and bursting to the AWS rendering farm.
For all instances except i3en:
Includes up to 2Gbps (up to 20TB per day) and 1TB ULT X File System (FS) license.
For i3en instances (for use cases requiring ephemeral storage):
Includes up to 2Gbps (up to 20TB per day) and ULT X FS licenses based on the drive capacity of the instance e.g., i3en.2xlarge pricing includes 5TB ULT X FS license.
App-, cloud-, and WAN-agnostic, ULT X is easy to deploy. ULT X offers flexible deployment options to fit your bespoke enterprise infrastructure needs. On premise, ULT X is available in software (bare metal, KVM, ESXi) and scale-up options for higher throughput.
Highlights
Results of AWS validated testing (protocol = NFSv4; datastore = FSxZ) moving various datasets from MD to us-west-2 comparing traditional TCP and Vcinity:- Very Small Datasets (1M - 2/4/8k files) = 12x Faster (than without Vcinity)- Small Datasets (100K - 64/128k files) = 76x Faster- Medium Datasets (123 - 5GB files) = 1.7x Faster- Large Datasets (1 - 500GB file) = 1.7x Faster- Mixed Datasets (combination of all sizes) = 6.4x FasterDetails: https://vimeo.com/861355972/ca39a85381?share=copy
Enable faster: data access, cloud data migrations, AI & ML execution- With: less wait time, fewer copies, and reduced data exposure- To drive faster: time-to-insight, time-to-results, and time-to-value- To achieve: improved decision efficacy, more efficient operations, higher customer satisfaction, and overall competitive advantage
Two great capabilities in one great solution:- High-speed data transfer (up to 76x faster than anything you have seen before)- Remote data access (real-time access to data you do not want to or cannot move)
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the AWS instance type you run this software on. The 15 options map to specific instance families and sizes, letting you match compute to your throughput needs. The r5, r5a, and r5n instances pair with Amazon Elastic Block Storage, while i3en instances add embedded cache. Within each family, larger sizes (from 6xlarge up to 24xlarge) handle heavier workloads. You need one instance per site to form a data corridor between two or more locations. The volume of data you move or access does not change hourly pricing.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
How many instances do I need to run this software?
You need one instance per site to form a data corridor between two or more locations. The software works as "bookends" deployed at each end, such as an edge site and a cloud region. Each running instance bills at its hourly rate for the instance family and size you select.
Does the amount of data I move or access change my hourly cost?
No. Charges are based on instance-hours for the instance type you run, not data volume. Once your instance is running, you can move or access as much data as you want with no impact on pricing. Data throughput does not add to the hourly rate.
What is the difference between the r5-family instances and the i3en instances?
The r5, r5a, and r5n instances pair with Amazon Elastic Block Storage. The i3en instances include embedded cache supporting up to 2Gbps throughput. Each instance type bills at its own hourly rate, so your choice depends on your storage and throughput needs.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
ULT X AWS is specified for storage supported in each of the i3en instances and up to 1TB of storage for all the other types of instances. If you would like to use additional storage with the instance, please contact your Vcinity sales rep or send an email to aws_sales@vcinity.io
