SonarQube On Ubuntu 26.04 Hardened is a production ready, security hardened machine image that delivers SonarQube 26.9 running natively on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS with no Docker, no containers, and no configuration required. Built for DevOps teams, security engineers, and platform administrators who need code quality and security analysis running inside their own infrastructure, this image combines the full power of SonarQube static code analysis with a defense in depth hardening profile that meets enterprise and marketplace security standards. Simply launch the instance, open the browser, and start analyzing code in under four minutes.
The image ships with a complete observability and security stack including Lynis for system hardening audits, ClamAV for antivirus scanning, OpenSCAP for CIS benchmark compliance, auditd for kernel level audit logging, fail2ban for SSH brute force protection, and UFW as the host firewall. SonarQube runs on Java 21 with PostgreSQL 16 as its backing database, all managed through systemd for automatic startup and recovery. Every instance derives its admin password dynamically from its instance ID via IMDSv2, eliminating hardcoded secrets and enforcing unique credentials per deployment. Full support for SAST, code quality gates, technical debt tracking, OWASP Top 10 detection, CWE vulnerability identification, code coverage, duplication analysis, and CI CD pipeline integration through the SonarQube REST API and Scanner.

You get the SonarQube software pre-installed on a hardened Ubuntu 26.04 image, running on the EC2 instance size you pick. That instance provides the CPU, memory, and storage. One unit equals one running instance for one hour. Each virtual machine you launch bills separately.
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for their attached volumes. When you restart the instance, hourly software billing resumes automatically.
Two charges combine on one invoice: the hourly software rate and the underlying AWS infrastructure fees. The software rate depends on which instance you select. AWS charges for compute, storage, and data transfer apply separately. Running more instances or larger sizes raises both charges.

Usage instructions
Thank you for purchasing the SonarQube On Ubuntu 26.04 Hardened. This section explains how to launch, access, and verify your hardened instance.
Step 1. Launch the instance
Deploy this AMI from the AWS Marketplace console using your preferred instance type. During launch, select an existing SSH key pair or create a new one. This key is required to access the instance, as password authentication is disabled for security.
Step 2. Configure the security group
In the security group settings, allow inbound SSH traffic on port 22 only from your trusted IP address. Do not open other ports unless required by your workload. The UFW firewall inside the instance is already configured to deny all incoming traffic except SSH port 22 and SonarQube web traffic on port 9000. To access the SonarQube web interface, allow inbound TCP traffic on port 9000, preferably restricted to your management IP range or corporate CIDR block. Port 9000 should not be exposed to the public internet unless required, and if public access is necessary, consider placing an Application Load Balancer with TLS termination in front of the instance to enforce HTTPS.
Step 3. Connect to the instance
After the instance is running, connect using SSH with the default user ubuntu and your private key:
