If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for running SonarQube on a preconfigured Ubuntu Server 22.04 image. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, you pick an AWS EC2 instance type, and your hourly rate follows that choice. The many options span general purpose, compute, memory, storage, and accelerated instance families in sizes from nano to 8xlarge. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware carry higher hourly rates. The software capability stays the same across every option. You match the instance to your workload size and run it only as long as you need.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for the hourly rate on a given instance type?
You get the SonarQube software running on a preconfigured Ubuntu Server 22.04 image, hosted on the EC2 instance type you select. The hourly rate reflects that instance's CPU, memory, and specialized hardware. The underlying EC2 infrastructure is billed separately by AWS.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running time by the hour. A fully stopped instance does not accrue hourly software charges. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Charges resume once you start the instance again.
Do I pay more for extra programming languages, security scanning, or more projects?
No. Pricing follows only the EC2 instance type you choose, not features or project count. The same code analysis and security capabilities apply across every instance option. To handle larger codebases or more concurrent scans, you pick an instance with more CPU and memory.
