Deploy a turnkey, production-ready Qdrant Vector Database appliance featuring automated Let's Encrypt SSL via Caddy, pre-configured API key security, native Web UI dashboard, and high-performance kernel tuning on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

    Overview

Deploy a production-ready, high-performance Qdrant Vector Database appliance engineered specifically for generative AI, semantic search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workloads on AWS. Built on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, this image eliminates manual infrastructure configuration by bundling a pre-tuned, native Qdrant engine with automated SSL reverse-proxying, turnkey security, and an integrated web administration console.

Qdrant is an enterprise-grade vector similarity search engine written in Rust. It offers low-latency nearest-neighbor search with advanced payload-based filtering, scalar quantization, and memory-mapped file storage. This hardened AMI packages Qdrant with operational enhancements designed to deliver high availability and security out of the box.

Key Features and Operational Enhancements Turnkey Reverse Proxy with Automatic SSL: Integrated Caddy reverse proxy automatically provisions and renews free Let's Encrypt TLS certificates using a single CLI command (sudo qdrant-ssl yourdomain.com).

Built-in Web Management UI: Explore collections, inspect points, and run live vector queries directly from the bundled, web-based visual console.

Dual API Support (REST & gRPC): Pre-routed endpoints provide full compatibility for both high-throughput binary gRPC (HTTP/2 cleartext transport on port 6334) and standard REST operations on port 443/80.

Kernel & Memory Tuning: Tuned out of the box with optimized Linux kernel parameters (vm.max_map_count and file descriptor limits) to support high-density memory-mapped (mmap) storage and indexing.

Automated First-Boot Hardening: Generates a cryptographically strong, unique API key upon instance launch. Plaintext defaults are prohibited, and credentials are securely delivered via local console output and an administrator credential file.

Cloud-Native Efficiency: Operates as a lightweight native systemd service with zero container overhead, achieving rapid boot times and low host overhead.

    Highlights

    • Turnkey Production Architecture: Pre-configured native Qdrant engine with high-throughput gRPC and REST APIs running on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
    • Automated SSL & Security: One-command Let's Encrypt HTTPS domain binding via Caddy reverse proxy and auto-generated API keys on boot.
    • Hardware Tuned for Vector Search: Pre-optimized Linux kernel settings (max_map_count, open file descriptors) for dense vector memory-mapping.

    Dimensions summary

You pay by the hour for the software based on the EC2 instance size you choose. Pricing scales with instance capacity, so larger instances cost more per hour. The options cover several instance families: burstable general-purpose (t3, t3a), memory-optimized (r6i, r6id, r6in, r6idn), compute-optimized (c6i, c6id, c6in, plus one HPC type), and general-purpose (m6i, m6id, m6in, m6idn). Within each family, sizes run from large up to metal, letting you match compute, memory, and network needs. Billing is pay-as-you-go with no monthly subscription; stopping the instance stops the software charge. AWS hosting fees are billed separately.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

The hourly rate covers the aMiSTACX software stack running on the EC2 instance size you select. One unit equals one running instance-hour. The listed EC2 names map to AWS compute, memory, and network sizes. AWS hosting charges for that instance bill separately and directly through Amazon.
No. Billing is pay-as-you-go with no monthly subscription. When you stop the instance, the aMiSTACX software charge stops. You may still incur AWS charges for subscribed services like storage. There is no commitment, so you pay only for hours the instance runs.
Only the instance classes shown in the listing are available at deployment. If you need a type not listed, you can contact the vendor to ask what options exist. You can also change infrastructure settings yourself after deployment in some cases.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Version release notes

Version 1.0.0 Release Notes Product: Hardened Qdrant Vector Database with Web UI & Auto-SSL on Ubuntu 24.04

Base Image: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat) x86_64

    Release Type: Initial Production Release

What's Included in This Release Native Qdrant Engine: Pre-configured standalone Qdrant binary running as a dedicated systemd service with automatic restart policies and zero container overhead.

Turnkey Caddy Reverse Proxy: Integrated Caddy server pre-configured on port 80 and port 443, routing traffic cleanly to internal REST and gRPC endpoints.

Automated SSL/TLS Provisioning: Added the qdrant-ssl helper utility (sudo qdrant-ssl [email]) to automatically configure and maintain free Let's Encrypt certificates.

Integrated Web Dashboard: Pre-installed static web UI assets enabling immediate visual inspection of collections, payload schemas, and point data via /dashboard/.

    Additional details

    Usage instructions

Your instance automatically generates a unique API key during initial startup. Inspect your access details by running:

Bash cat /home/ubuntu/qdrant-credentials.txt (These credentials are also echoed to the EC2 System Log in the AWS Management Console for headless setups).

    1. Access the Web Dashboard Open your browser and navigate to: http://<INSTANCE-PUBLIC-IP>/dashboard/

When prompted, enter the generated API key found in your credentials file.

    1. Test the REST API Verify your deployment from your local machine or EC2 shell:

    Bash curl -X GET "http://<INSTANCE-PUBLIC-IP>/collections"
-H "api-key: <YOUR-API-KEY>" 4. Configure a Custom Domain with Automatic HTTPS (Optional but Recommended) To secure your endpoints with an automated Let's Encrypt SSL certificate:

Create a DNS A record pointing your domain (e.g., qdrant.example.com) to your instance's public IP address.

Ensure inbound ports 80 and 443 are open in your EC2 Security Group.

SSH into the instance and run the SSL configuration helper:

Bash sudo qdrant-ssl qdrant.example.com admin@example.com  Your endpoints and dashboard will automatically switch to valid HTTPS: https://qdrant.example.com/dashboard/
