AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for this CIS-hardened AlmaLinux 8 image. Pricing follows the EC2 instance type you choose, so there are no tiers or plans to pick. Each dimension maps to one instance type across families like general purpose (m, t), compute (c), memory (r, x), storage (d, i), and accelerated computing (g, p, inf, trn). The hourly software rate scales with instance size, from small shared-core types up to very large multi-terabyte memory and GPU types. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, alongside standard AWS infrastructure charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit map to, and how is it counted?
Each dimension maps to one running EC2 instance of the named type, billed per hour. You are charged the software rate for every hour that instance runs. Larger instance types carry higher hourly rates. The count follows how many instances you launch and how long each runs.
Am I charged the software fee when an instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue the software charge. You may still pay standard AWS fees for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the image fee applies only to hours the instance runs.
What does the hourly rate cover, and is vendor support included?
The hourly rate covers the CIS-hardened AlmaLinux 8 image, built for a secure baseline to help meet compliance needs like HIPAA and PCI. Technical support packages and migration services are offered separately by the vendor and are not part of this hourly image charge.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
Initial release of OpenLogic's AlmaLinux 8 Security Hardened AMI.
This image is pre-hardened and benchmarked against both the CIS Level 2 - Server and PCI-DSS standards via OpenSCAP, using the ansible-lockdown RHEL8-CIS role.

Subscribe to this product, then launch an instance from the AMI in your chosen region.
In the security group, allow inbound TCP port 22 from the address range you will connect from.
Select an EC2 key pair at launch. Password authentication is disabled on this image; access is by key pair only.
Connect over SSH as the user "alma": ssh -i /path/to/key.pem alma@<public-ip>
Use sudo for privileged operations. Direct root login over SSH is disabled.
Configuration notes: this image has been hardened to the CIS Level 2 - Server and PCI-DSS benchmarks via OpenSCAP; see HARDENING_EXCEPTIONS.md and the compliance reports shipped in /root/harden for the full documented exception list. The root filesystem expands automatically on first boot.

This AlmaLinux 8 LVM AMI includes charges for the cloud integration and optimization work done by ProComputers. It offers a dependable enterprise operating system for production services on Amazon EC2, built on a Logical Volume Manager disk layout. With LVM, volumes can be grown and resized while the system keeps running, so developers and administrators can add capacity, rearrange storage, and manage disk layers without rebuilding the instance. The image ships with cloud-init for automated first-boot setup, the Elastic Network Adapter driver for fast networking, and SELinux in enforcing mode. Because AlmaLinux 8 closely follows Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, RHEL 8 software and scripts run unchanged. Updates come from the official Alma Linux 8 repositories. Typical deployments include databases, file and application servers, container hosts, and CI/CD agents, all on an image ProComputers tests and refreshes regularly.
