The Visual Studio Code Workbench for AWS EC2 brings the Visual Studio Code experience to your AWS environment. The web-based IDE is accessible securely through your browser. The entire VSCode experience is available, including extensions, terminal, debuggers and everything else you enjoy in the desktop edition.

This edition is multi-user capable which allows many users to share the same EC2 instance while running completely independent instances of the Visual Studio Code server.

The image is based on Ubuntu 20.04 and includes optimized runtimes for many popular programming languages such as NodeJS, Ruby, PHP, Python (Anaconda), Rust, R, Julia, Java, Kotlin, PowerShell, .Net Core, Mono, Swift, Perl and their package managers. In addition, many popular cloud tools are installed such as the AWS CLI, AWS Copilot, AWS SAM, Azure CLI, Google Cloud SDK, Terraform and OpenShift CLI.
