Secure data management has improved and file sharing now saves time and reduces issues
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Windows 10 in my organization is protecting data and storage data, and after that, I perform some networking tasks like Wireshark and installing PBX.
What is most valuable?
Windows 10 has impacted my organization positively by introducing enhanced features compared to Windows XP or Windows 7. Enhanced features such as sharing were important for our needs. Windows 10 offers great functionality and the sharing feature, including file sharing and network sharing, stands out. It improved our operations compared to Windows XP or Windows 7 and helped save time, reduce issues, and improve security.

User interface has simplified daily office tasks and still needs minor usability improvements
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Windows 10 is commercial as well as residential use. A quick specific example of how I use Windows 10 in my work or at home is for basic computing needs for office-based tools.
What is most valuable?
The best features Windows 10 offers are the easy user interface and the graphical interface. What I appreciate most about the user interface or graphical interface is that it provides a more interesting experience compared to using a command line, which is based primarily on character recognition.
Windows 10 has positively impacted my organization by enabling a larger audience of users to operate in the environment. It created a standard that allows everyone to have the commonality of being able to operate a Windows 10 computer.
What needs improvement?
Windows 11 is good, but Windows 10 is fine and I don't have any major complaints about Windows 10. I think there could be improvements with Windows 10, but my organization is on Windows 11 at this point.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Windows 10 since it came out.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Windows 10 is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Windows 10's scalability is good.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before Windows 10, I used a different solution which was Windows 8.
What was our ROI?
I haven't seen a return on investment with Windows 10 and I can't share any relevant metrics, such as time saved, fewer employees needed, or money saved.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Windows 10 was a fair experience.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I didn't evaluate other options before choosing Windows 10.
What other advice do I have?
I don't want to add anything else about the features. My advice to others looking into using Windows 10 is that it's a fine product and it's decent. I don't have any additional thoughts about Windows 10 before we wrap up. I would rate this review a 7.
Running legacy multi-value databases on older hardware has remained reliable and cost-effective
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Windows 10 is that we have an application called Pick D3 and on top of that, it's an application that allows a user to get to it, called AccuTerm, which is a multi-value database system. We use that because certain versions of Windows don't allow us to utilize the application correctly, so we run virtual machines that allow us to do so.
A quick specific example of how I use Windows 10 with Pick D3 and AccuTerm in my daily work is that we have these projects that we set up with.
What is most valuable?
The best features Windows 10 offers for me as a systems administrator include the fact that there's no TPM requirements as in with Windows 11 , allowing me to install it on older machines, and I can disable certain parts of my virtual machine that just ignores the TPM requirements, which is a big thing for us.
The ability to bypass TPM requirements significantly makes things easier for my workflow because of how we run our virtual machines, and it definitely saves us money since I don't need to have a TPM on some of these older servers that I run, making it cheaper to run, and I can use slightly older equipment which is fine.
Windows 10 has positively impacted my organization because the license costs are definitely lower than running Windows 11 , and there's less overhead when it comes to Microsoft pulling data from our networks to feed their copilot machine, which has saved us money. I've used Windows 10 since it came out and even during the Windows preview back with Windows 8 and Windows 7, and it's definitely easier to use, less complicated, and has reached its end of life for my needs.
What needs improvement?
I give Windows 10 a nine instead of a ten because there are certain driver requirements for some of the newer pieces of hardware in my machine or servers, making installing drivers a little complicated.
I feel that Windows 10 works well and has a functionality that's perfectly suited to itself, so I don't see how it can be improved.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Windows 10 since it came out.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I can confirm that Windows 10 is very stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
In terms of scalability, Windows 10 scales like any Microsoft product; it's very scalable.
How are customer service and support?
Customer support for Windows 10 is basically non-existent since it's end of life; everything that I've found is either through full stack or if I have any issues, I reach out to forums such as Reddit and full stack.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before Windows 10, we originally used Linux and Red Hat, but the cost of running Red Hat was just too expensive, which is why we switched.
How was the initial setup?
Windows 10 is deployed in my organization strictly on-premises, where I use SCCM to deploy it through Hyper-V , and on occasions, I'll use the WDS Windows Deployment Services if it's a small enough project.
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Windows 10 was pretty much automated; I bought the licenses through the Microsoft manager, but costs are not something I can tell you.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Windows 10, we looked into Arch Linux for a little while as it was open source, but the problems of setting it up made simplicity within the Microsoft world and environment just not feasible.
What other advice do I have?
The advice I give to others looking into using Windows 10 is to disable the out of box experience, OOBE, as that would probably be my biggest tip.
I have no additional thoughts about Windows 10 to share. I give Windows 10 a rating of nine.
Daily workloads have become faster and application management is now simpler for my team
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Windows 10 at work is to use it for applications, to run the applications or the .exe file, executable files. Sometimes I use IIS , Internet Information Services, for Windows level usage. I also use the command prompt sometimes, which we can only get in Windows.
For work purposes, I perform almost every day on Windows 10 the task of using command prompt most of the time and for using it as a localhost and for IIS also.
What is most valuable?
In my opinion, the best features Windows 10 offers are that it is really easy to use and to apply each and everything whatever we are trying to do. Microsoft is providing so many things, and whenever we are trying to use Microsoft products, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Azure , they give us a proper guideline, and it is really very easy to use.
The particular feature I think stands out the most in Windows 10 is that it is easy to use. Most probably we can say the run command which we use to open the applications, to close or clear the cache files, and also the control panel. The control panel is also very easy to use to add and delete the programs, change the settings, and for multiple use cases.
What needs improvement?
In my experience, there is nothing to be improved inside Windows 10. It is already very well set up.
If I had to think of one thing that could be improved in Windows 10, it would be that we could make it a little faster.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Windows 10 for more than ten years in my personal life and in my work life also.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Windows 10 is totally stable in my experience.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Windows 10's scalability is really very scalable.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support for Windows 10 is good, really nice. I appreciate them.
I would rate customer support a ten.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used Linux as a different solution before Windows 10 for some of the projects because of the costing part, because it is open-source. There is nothing to buy. I chose it just because of speed and being open-source.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment with Windows 10 in that it basically saves our money. As for reducing the number of employees, it depends on the projects and the strength. It depends on the project also. We do not have to reduce employees. We have a lot of work to do on Windows, so we cannot say that we have to reduce employees or anything of that nature. However, it saves our money a lot by reducing the work time and workloads.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Regarding my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Windows 10, I am not able to tell you because it is with the business team or the sales team, the business analyst. I am just an engineer. I am able to tell you the technical things inside it.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Windows 10, I only evaluated Linux which I previously mentioned. Nothing else.
What other advice do I have?
Choosing Windows 10 over Linux has made my work or my team's work easier in that I can say Linux is fast, but as compared to Windows, Linux is really very complicated to use. Mostly we have to type commands for each and everything, such as for installing the application or for running any packages. However, in Windows, we can simply just open the browser, download anything, and we can install it by double-clicking only. We do not need any commands to run something or to do something.
If you are looking into using Windows 10, I would advise that you just have to clear out the cache first of all whenever you try to get into Windows. Secondly, I would tell you that if you are looking forward for a great response and easy-to-use operating system, you can go for Windows 10. That is really very useful.
Collaborative development has become more secure and efficient for our team
What is our primary use case?
As a developer, we can work collaboratively, and Windows 10 is also good from a UI perspective. I chose to rate it an eight because I have faced issues when updates come in, which can be annoying. Another main issue is background apps running, so that is why I rate it eight.
What is most valuable?
We are already using Windows 10 as our operating system, so we clone our repository in Windows 10 and develop using some Microsoft software by installing them in Windows 10 as well. Windows 10 mainly helps us in our day-to-day developing works and debugging.
Windows 10 is a good operating system for a developer in terms of device encryption, which means full device encryption, so it is a more secure way to keep our data protected. The Windows 10 antivirus systems are excellent, and it is a secure solution. It also gives a good user-friendly interface, so it is easy to work with, and we mainly use Windows Sandbox, which is a lightweight, isolated environment to safely run unknown apps.
Windows 10 helps our team collaboration more because we have OneDrive and SharePoint for sharing our resources. OneDrive is for sharing common folders among team members and network shares folder. Windows 10 also helps us to use Microsoft Teams for group chat, video calls, and we can share our resources and have easy meetings and virtual meetings with clients abroad. It also supports VPN, which is mainly used at the organization level because we can manage our regional data easily.
Device encryption is a main priority for us as developers in a FinTech company because we have the most secure user data, so it is good to have encrypted data to manage our data. The device encryption is a good feature to keep the client data encrypted and secure.
Windows 10 is mainly providing updates for security and UI changes, so the security updates are very useful for us as developers, and even for personal use, the updates are excellent.
What needs improvement?
We have faced some issues with Windows OneDrive because if one developer has a folder in a common OneDrive folder, it took some time to show it to others. It becomes somewhat difficult to work, as there is latency on that, so if you update that, it will be more efficient and useful for the developers.
My main focus on Windows 10 is the giving of regular updates, so it might take some time to update Windows, which is also mandatory. As a developer, when we are working with Windows 10, if it takes more time to update and restart the PC, it affects our efficiency at work. If we could stop the updates on a regular basis or if they were delivered faster, it would be easier.
As a developer, the frequent updates are too annoying for working on it, so it would be better if we stop the frequent updates and only provide the most important ones. Performance issues over time due to background apps and programs piling up and using an SSD instead of a hard disk are also concerns.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have started my journey with computers, and I started with Windows 10. It has been more than fifteen to sixteen years that I am working with Windows, and for Windows 10, I think I have been working with it for around three to four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Windows 10 is stable for my daily development work, providing frequent security updates and user-friendly updates, which are excellent. My only concern is that updates take too long during restarts, which can be annoying, but otherwise, Windows 10 is a good solution for developers.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Windows 10 has good scalability and we rarely face issues. I think the only issues we encounter are with updates and background running apps. In other aspects, as developers, we can focus fully on our work without pressure or concerns about issues on our own PCs, making Windows 10 a good scalable solution for developers.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support for Windows 10 is excellent, but I have not directly worked with customer support because, as an organization, we meet with IT support, and they coordinate with Windows customer support. So I do not have much experience with that.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used Linux alongside Windows 10, including Ubuntu and Kali Linux , which are not as user-friendly compared to Windows 10. As a software web application developer, user-friendliness is more efficient for us to work on, making it easy to focus on our tasks rather than the operating system. Windows 10 is a very fast operating system for developers, and that is why I switched.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing for Windows 10 Pro is very good, but I do not know how the pricing works at the organizational level because, as developers, we are using the solution, and the pricing details are handled by the IT team. So I do not have much experience with that.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
In evaluating options, I have used Kali Linux and Ubuntu and then switched to Windows 10 due to its user-friendliness, secure manner, and excellent Windows Defender. Additionally, we can easily use Microsoft Teams and OneDrive for shared folders, which is another reason I switched to Windows 10.
What other advice do I have?
If a newly joined developer is confused about choosing an operating system, I would advise them to use Windows 10 because it is a user-friendly operating system. A new developer can easily adapt to it, and security-wise, Windows 10 is good, so they do not need to worry about personal data or anything because the encryption levels are excellent. At the organizational level, we can work collaboratively on OneDrive and Teams, which makes our work efficient. I have rated this review an eight out of ten.
