Zenoh (https://zenoh.io) is an open-source protocol designed to unify data in motion, data at rest, and computations from microcontrollers to cloud data centers. It combines the efficiency of publish/subscribe (pub/sub) messaging with geo-distributed storage, querying, and computation capabilities, enabling seamless data flow and processing across heterogeneous systems .

What does one hour of billing cover on my chosen instance?
You pay for each hour the software runs on one EC2 instance of the size you select. The hourly rate covers the Zenoh software plus support from the vendor. It runs on Ubuntu 24.04. The rate scales with the CPU and memory of the instance family and size you pick.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops the hourly software charge. You may still owe separate AWS fees for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the software licence meters running hours only.
Can I switch to a different instance size later if my workload changes?
Yes. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type across general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, burstable, and high-performance families. You can run a larger or smaller size and pay that instance's hourly rate. Match the instance to your throughput and memory needs, since Zenoh runs across a wide range of hardware.
