You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type, so pricing scales with the compute resources you choose. The t2 and t3 families cover smaller workloads, from nano and micro up through 2xlarge. The m3, m4, and m5 families offer general-purpose sizing. The c3, c4, and c5 families target compute-focused needs. The r3, r4, and r5 families target memory-focused needs. Software plus maintenance and support is billed together per running hour. Your total depends on which instances you launch and how long they run.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Am I charged for the software when my Zabbix instance is stopped?
Charges apply per running hour. When you stop an instance, the hourly software and support charge stops accruing. You pay only for hours the instance is actively running. Underlying AWS storage or other resource fees may still apply while the instance is stopped, separate from this software charge.
What does one hour of billing cover across the different instance sizes?
Each dimension bills per hour that a specific EC2 instance type runs. One unit equals one hour of one running instance of that size. The rate reflects the compute and memory of that instance family. Running several instances multiplies the charge by the number of running instances.
Does the price include maintenance and support, or is that billed separately?
The hourly charge bundles the software with maintenance and support together. You do not pay a separate line item for support. The vendor provides certified engineer assistance, version upgrades, and security upgrades as part of the running-hour rate.
