I like that Designcenter Solid Edge provides a very flexible environment and is easy to use. It's also great for designing and bringing my ideas to reality.

What do you dislike about the product?

For first time not that easy to setup the app but as time goes became much familiar and easy.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Designcenter Solid Edge for solving everyday mechanical and electrical problems. It's a very flexible environment and easy to use.

What do you like best about the product?

I absolutely love Designcenter Solid Edge’s Synchronous Technology. It's a true game-changer for 3D product development. It liberates me from the constraints of history-based design by allowing fast and flexible design changes without breaking the model. This capability is especially beneficial when working with imported files that lack feature history, as I can manipulate models directly for rapid revisions. Solid Edge excels in stability and speed, which is particularly noticeable when working with large assemblies that previously slowed down or crashed other programs. The software’s ability to handle complex mechanical and electrical design, along with integrated simulation for strength, stress, and flow analysis, within a single environment drastically reduces prototyping costs and minimizes the risk of late-stage failures. This integrated simulation means I don’t waste time exporting designs to separate analysis tools, which streamlines my workflow significantly. Moreover, Synchronous Technology allows me to make instantaneous, geometry-driven changes without worrying about model history or complex constraints, which facilitates rapid prototyping and helps me meet tight deadlines. Whether dealing with revisions or managing external data, Synchronous Technology provides unmatched speed, versatility, and direct interaction with 3D models, even with files from different CAD systems. The integration with other Siemens tools like Teamcenter X for Product Lifecycle Management and data integrity, alongside compatibility with specialized CAM software, makes it a comprehensive solution for my engineering needs. In summary, Designcenter Solid Edge empowers me to innovate efficiently by focusing on engineering solutions without being bogged down by software limitations.

What do you dislike about the product?

I find that there are a few areas in Designcenter Solid Edge that could be improved to enhance the overall user experience. Firstly, the learning resources and community support are lacking; the availability of high-quality, free, community-driven learning resources is limited, which makes it hard for new users to overcome the steep learning curve. Although Siemens offers excellent official training, it could be more accessible. Secondly, the sheet metal flat pattern annotation in drafting phases can be cumbersome, with generating fully annotated flat patterns requiring more manual adjustments than I'd like. Enhancements in automation for creating manufacturing-ready annotations would be beneficial. Lastly, the initial setup and configuration of integrated cloud data management via Teamcenter X poses challenges. The process is complex and requires significant administrative effort. A more streamlined, user-guided 'Quick Start' wizard would simplify this setup for small-to-medium businesses. While the software's base functionality is strong, these usability and accessibility enhancements would greatly benefit users.

I find the interface of Designcenter Solid Edge to be very user-friendly, which makes it easy for me to navigate and utilize its features effectively. I particularly appreciate its automatic drawing tool, which streamlines my workflow and enhances my efficiency in creating designs. The software's seamless handling of the iterative design process and file comparability issues has been very beneficial, allowing me to focus more on designing rather than troubleshooting. Additionally, the ease of use significantly contributes to the overall positive experience with the software, ensuring that my time is spent productively.

- The interface is not really modern (kind of outdated).
- Slows down with large assemblies.
- Customer support isn't as fast/active as other popular CAD softwares like Solidworks.

- Helps with managing assemblies and troubleshooting.

What do you like best about the product?

I​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ mainly use it for organizing and managing all my CAD files in one single location. The interface is pretty simple, so I don’t have to waste time looking for designs or components. I also like how fast it is to preview and drag parts into new assemblies without having to open multiple windows.

One more thing that is very positive is the integration with Solid Edge, which keeps everything synced and also lessens the chance of errors. The search tool is a great help even when you have large projects, so I can find the part or drawing I need in a very short time. I am also fond of the feature that allows me to take off parts from the old projects, and thus the design work is getting quicker.

Sharing designs with colleagues is a breeze, and version control is there to help you avoid getting mixed up. In general, it helps a lot in making the whole process of designing and managing complex assemblies a lot smoother and more ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌efficient.

What do you dislike about the product?

There​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ is a single thing I don’t like, which is the feeling of slowness when it loads huge assemblies or files.Not all features are very intuitive, and it takes quite a while to understand all the options.The interface could be a little more modern, as some of the menus seem to be old-fashioned.If you don’t have the same version of the software, it can be difficult to collaborate with external users.At times, searching for files brings up too many results, and that can be quite annoying.It is not very comfortable to change certain components or settings because the customization is not very flexible.The documentation is good, but it doesn’t always present the most practical, real-world examples.Nonetheless, it still does the trick of design management way better than if you were to handle the files ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌manually.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Designcenter​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ is the tool with which i can address the issue of large cad libraries which are most of the time difficult to manage in an efficient manner.
It was a very difficult task to search for parts or drawings among multiple folders and this task was also very time-consuming. Now I can organize and access everything very quickly, thus I am saved of hours of work weekly. Besides that, it is also Diminishing of Errors by keeping versions synchronized, thus I am not doing the mistake of using an article or component which is already out of date.
The feature which permits the designers to use the same parts speeds up the design process and also raises the level of agreement between different projects. The way of communication with colleagues has been simplified since everyone uses the same library. Another advantage, In fact, is the enhanced recording of the stages of the project - I always know which components are used where.
In summary, it is a tool that makes design work faster, more organized, and less ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌stressful.
