Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for each running instance, with no upfront commitment. The software runs as a virtual machine you launch and connect to over SSH. Every dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance size, so your rate depends on the instance you choose. Options span several instance families, including general-purpose types (m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5d, m5n, m5ad, m5dn) and burstable types (t2, t3, t3a). Within each family, sizes range from nano and micro up to 24xlarge and bare metal. Larger sizes carry more compute, memory, and storage, so hourly rates scale accordingly.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 virtual machine of the instance type you selected. You pay for every hour that machine runs, based on that instance's compute, memory, and storage. Launching more machines adds more hourly charges, one per running instance.
Software charges meter running instance-hours only. A stopped or powered-off virtual machine does not accrue software fees. Note that underlying AWS storage costs may still apply while an instance is stopped. To stop charges fully, terminate the instance rather than leaving it running idle.
Your hourly rate follows the instance type you run, not a fixed product fee. Moving from a small size like nano to a larger size like 24xlarge or bare metal raises the hourly rate. Only running instances count, so you pay the rate for whichever size is active.
