You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance that runs this FileCloud Enterprise Advanced software, licensed for 50 users. The many dimensions are not feature tiers. Instead, each one maps to a specific EC2 instance type, spanning general-purpose (m3, m4, m5, m7 families), compute-optimized (c7 families), and high-performance (hpc7a) options. Sizes range from small burstable instances to large metal servers. Your hourly rate scales with the instance you pick — more CPU and memory cost more per hour. The software runs on your own AWS infrastructure with user-provided storage.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What am I actually paying for with the hourly rate — the software, the server, or both?
The hourly rate covers the FileCloud software licence for 50 users on the EC2 instance you select. Underlying AWS compute is billed separately by AWS. You also supply your own storage, since this listing includes no base storage. Both software and compute charges accrue while the instance runs.
Am I charged when the EC2 instance is stopped or powered off?
Hourly software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Attached AWS storage and other AWS resources may still bill separately, but the FileCloud licence meters running hours only.
If I need to move to a bigger server later, how does my hourly cost change?
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. Switching to an instance with more CPU or memory raises your hourly rate; a smaller instance lowers it. The change is not automatic — you pick the instance type at launch. The 50-user licence stays the same across instance types.
