The Cirrus Identity SAML Bridge for DUO allows you to register your Cisco DUO SSO service with national research and education identity federations like InCommon and other eduGAIN.
Cirrus Identity is the Swiss army knife of digital identity management. We offer a suite of managed solutions that help organizations streamline access to digital resources for enterprise users and customers.
The Cirrus SAML Bridge is key for connecting Higher Ed and Research Identity Providers to national and international multilateral federations like InCommon and eduGAIN. If you use Cisco DUO SSO as your organization SAML Identity Provider, the Cirrus Bridge enables you to join a national federation like InCommon, the Canadian Access Federation, GakuNin, the UK Federation, etc. without running and managing any software locally.
National identity federations like InCommon provide trust frameworks that enable application providers to implement trusted SSO across multiple organizations at once.
DUO SSO does not support participation in multilateral federation.
The Cirrus SAML Bridge fills this gap!
The Cirrus Identity team collects some information about your organization and sets up your Bridge instance. We then walk you through configuration within the DUO SSO admin portal, as well as registration of your Identity Provider in your national federation, like InCommon.
Standard pricing listed below includes only pricing for EDU, as this product is rarely needed outside the EDU market. Final pricing is subject to a conversation with the Cirrus sales team and can only be contracted via a Private Offer.

You buy an annual subscription based on the number of authentications, or logins, per year. Pricing splits into two customer categories: education (EDU) and commercial/enterprise (Biz). Within each category, you choose one of three usage levels: 3,000,000, 4,500,000, or 6,000,000 authentications per year. Pick the tier that fits your expected annual login volume. Authentication counts are annualized to account for peaks and valleys across the year, so the tier acts as a soft cap. All six options run on the same yearly contract term.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one authentication for billing purposes?
An authentication is a single user login processed through the Bridge. Each time a user signs in with their institutional credentials to reach a connected application, it counts as one authentication. Your tier reflects total logins across all connected applications for the year.
What happens if my logins exceed the authentication tier I bought?
The tier acts as a soft cap, not a hard limit. Cirrus Identity annualizes authentication counts to account for peaks and valleys across the academic year. Brief spikes will not cut off access. Sustained volume above your tier is discussed when you plan your subscription.
What is the difference between the EDU and Biz options at the same authentication count?
Both cover the same annual authentication volume. The EDU option applies to education customers such as colleges, universities, and research institutions. The Biz option applies to commercial and enterprise customers. Pick the category that matches your organization type, then choose your annual login volume.
