The Cirrus Identity SAML Bridge for DUO allows you to register your Cisco DUO SSO service with national research and education identity federations like InCommon and other eduGAIN.
Cirrus Identity is the Swiss army knife of digital identity management. We offer a suite of managed solutions that help organizations streamline access to digital resources for enterprise users and customers.
The Cirrus SAML Bridge is key for connecting Higher Ed and Research Identity Providers to national and international multilateral federations like InCommon and eduGAIN. If you use Cisco DUO SSO as your organization SAML Identity Provider, the Cirrus Bridge enables you to join a national federation like InCommon, the Canadian Access Federation, GakuNin, the UK Federation, etc. without running and managing any software locally.
National identity federations like InCommon provide trust frameworks that enable application providers to implement trusted SSO across multiple organizations at once.
DUO SSO does not support participation in multilateral federation.
The Cirrus SAML Bridge fills this gap!
The Cirrus Identity team collects some information about your organization and sets up your Bridge instance. We then walk you through configuration within the DUO SSO admin portal, as well as registration of your Identity Provider in your national federation, like InCommon.
Standard pricing listed below includes only pricing for EDU, as this product is rarely needed outside the EDU market. Final pricing is subject to a conversation with the Cirrus sales team and can only be contracted via a Private Offer.

Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before it ends, access to these entitlements will expire.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
Pricing is based on the number of authentications you use per year, which sets your usage tier. You choose from three annual authentication capacity levels: 3,000,000, 4,500,000, or 6,000,000. Each level comes in two versions based on your organization type. Education customers select the AuthNs-EDU option, while commercial or enterprise customers select the AuthNs-Biz option. All options bill as an annual contract. Pick the capacity that matches your expected yearly authentication volume, and the version that matches your customer category. Authentications are annualized to account for peaks and valleys across the year.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one authentication for billing purposes?
An authentication is a single login event when a user signs in through the Bridge using their institutional credentials. The system totals these events across the year to set your usage tier. Because login volume rises and falls across the academic year, authentications are annualized to smooth out peaks and valleys.
What happens if my authentications exceed my chosen tier during the year?
The annual authentication count acts as a usage tier, described by the vendor as a soft cap. Because usage is annualized to account for seasonal peaks and valleys, short bursts are absorbed within your tier. If your annual volume regularly exceeds a level, select a capacity that matches your expected yearly total.
What is included in the base subscription regardless of tier?
Each subscription includes integration with all InCommon, Canadian Access Federation, or GakuNin applications, plus up to 10 non-federation applications. Hosting is cloud-based and highly available with 24x365 production support and no upgrades or patching. You also get rolling 90 days of log events to view or download. Additional applications and add-ons are available separately.
