What do you like best about the product?
Being able to schedule reports and payments and no longer using excel to track when reports or payments are due. Being able to use workflows to manage requests/grants as they move through the due diligence and then the grant-making cycle. Having the ability to generate grant agreements and other word documents, pulling in data from Fluxx. Having the ability to trigger alert emails, especially for external reviewers. Building filters and ad hoc reports make data accessible as well as the connected data tab is very useful- and the amendment feature is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
The time it takes for Fluxx to respond to support tickets. Fluxx performance can be slow. Having to submit tickets for custom Ruby code is tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are scaling our grantmaking and rather than adding more and more grant officers, we implemented Fluxx to automate manual excel and word-based processes. We also benefit from the fact that now that all grants are in a central location, reporting across various entities' grant-making is possible - previously it was difficult to consolidate the grant-making across entities. Fluxx also acts as a central repository for all grant-related documents. Having multi-currency allows us to cater to local currencies as well as a base currency for reporting - which makes use of the nightly FX rate integration. Decrease in the time it takes to conduct due diligence, increase in the transparency of the grantmaking, reporting and payment processing and pulling ad hoc reports for operational and management information purposes are major benefits.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We looked at a range of systems and initially thought Fluxx would be too expensive, but after implementing a minimal viable product for just one program, the rest of the grant-making entities in the Group wanted to leverage off the initial implementation and we needed to cater for multiple entities, multiple programs, multiple currencies, multiple funding sources - had we chosen a different product we would not have been able to scale the implementation when the scope changed to significantly. Multiple currencies are a key consideration if you make grants in different currencies. Building out the back-end requires a higher degree of technical proficiency, than a typical system admin, it goes beyond adding new users and unlocking users, who've locked themselves out, so unless you are comfortable with the cost and key reliance on Fluxx resources or Fluxx consultants, you need a team member that can learn to build forms, understands the data structure (models), knows or can learn basic HTML and CSS as well as Liquid code syntax. Without such a key resource you run the risk of not utilizing the features Fluxx has to offer and you will be paying for a premium product, but only using its basic features.

What do you like best about the product?
Fluxx Grantmaker is an easy way to access, manage and approve grant applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
Fluxx Grantmaker is limited in the number of actual persons on the grantee side that receive access to the grant application and associated account. For larger organizations, this can sometimes be restrictive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fluxx Grantmaker allows colleagues at my organization as well as consultants to the organization to review grant applications, make comments and leave feedback. This allows the individual team members to work on their own time and at their own pace to leave feedback but for the team to work collaboratively through the grantmaking process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fluxx Grantmaker will help your team work collaboratively and be more efficient through the grantmaking process to ultimately achieve your mission and goals through grantmaking.
