You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run this software on. The 21 options are not feature tiers. They map to different AWS instance types, each with its own mix of compute, memory, and CPU. Burstable general-purpose sizes (t2 and t3, from nano through 2xlarge) suit lighter or variable loads. Compute-optimized sizes (c3, c4, c5) favor processing power. Memory-optimized sizes (r3, r4, r5) provide more RAM. General-purpose m-series (m3, m4, m5) balance resources. Your hourly rate scales with the size you pick. You can change instances as needs change.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one running EC2 instance of that type, billed per hour. For example, one t3.small unit means one t3.small virtual machine active for one hour. Each size carries its own hourly software rate tied to its compute, memory, and CPU allocation.
The software rate meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Underlying AWS resources, like attached storage, may still incur separate AWS fees while the instance is stopped. You pay the software rate only while the instance runs.
You can stop the instance, switch to another supported size from the list, and restart. Your hourly software rate then follows the new instance type. There is no upfront commitment, so you move between sizes as workload demand changes. Vendor support is included for setup questions.
