Dimensions summary
vCAD uses a single usage-based dimension billed by user-hours. You pay for the hours each user spends on a virtual CAD workstation, measured under the SPK vCAD Base Hourly Pricing rate. There are no tiers or instance-size options to choose from. Cost scales directly with usage, so it rises as your team logs more hours and falls when workstations sit idle. This lets you provision engineers as needed and scale up or down without a fixed commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
A user-hour is one hour that an engineer spends on an active virtual CAD workstation. The meter counts running session time. Each user running a workstation for one hour adds one user-hour. Multiple users running at once each accrue their own hours, so the total combines everyone's active session time.
Charges accrue while a workstation is active and running. Idle or powered-off workstations do not add user-hours to your software bill. This lets you provision engineers as needed and scale up or down. Note that underlying AWS resources such as storage may still incur separate fees.
The user-hour rate covers the virtual workstation platform preconfigured to run engineering applications. You keep your existing engineering application investment. vCAD hosts and manages the workstation environment; your own CAD, ECAD, and FEA software licenses are separate from this hourly charge.
