Vendor refund policy
Notwithstanding anything else to the contrary, if you accept the Marketplace Offer in a Marketplace for the Tanium products and services (the Order); (a) you may not cancel or terminate the Order; and (b) if you do not pay the Marketplace the total fees for the Order, you agree to pay Tanium directly any portion of the total fees due for the Order not paid to the Marketplace (the Unpaid Balance) within thirty (30) days after you receive an invoice from Tanium for the Unpaid Balance.

What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Tanium is supporting IT infrastructure, specifically network engineering.
One specific example of how I use Tanium for supporting IT infrastructure and network engineering is the requirement to scan and mitigate vulnerabilities within our network. We set up a routine to scan every 24 hours across all of our devices, and we have a report that highlights priority five vulnerabilities. This compares favorably with our previous manual processes that were not efficient. Additionally, we have the ServiceNow connector between our CMDB and ServiceNow with Tanium's real-time updated data.
Tanium is excellent for emergency troubleshooting as it gives you real-time data on your client, including last log in, last activity, whether it has taken any of the more recent updates, its current level, and provides information down to the serial number.
How has it helped my organization?
Tanium has positively impacted my organization by allowing us to perform our patching and scanning much more efficiently, address third-party updates and patches more efficiently, and streamline our business spaces compared to the previous SCCM.
Regarding efficiency gains, I have seen reduced time. Previously, we had to manually run the scans and manually review the results, but with Tanium, it is fully automated to provide us with that data. We can identify any devices that are not responding, any devices that are causing issues on the network, and improve our ability to support our network in terms of devices being in commission, out of commission, and identifying vulnerabilities.
What is most valuable?
The best features Tanium offers are real-time data.
What stands out about the real-time data feature is the immediate access to any device on my network whether logged on or not. If a device is not currently logged on, I can see the last log on and last access.
Tanium is excellent for compliance. We recently implemented PCI DSS by importing the compliance rules, allowing us to run against our PCI environment to check for vulnerabilities and compliance. Our security team ran the compliance checks and are very happy with the results, able to compare it with our Qualys vulnerability scans.
Regarding Tanium's AI capabilities, its governance and security are superior, and I find its accuracy and reliability of output extremely strong.
What needs improvement?
The only improvement I can think of for Tanium would be a little faster access to the internet and to the cloud portion, as clients are reporting that while we are getting great data, we always need to have great data outputs.
I chose nine out of ten because Tanium is built for automated updates, but I would still prefer to have a manual process where we have guidelines or stop gaps that can prevent automation from running without human intervention. It is important to have at least some level of human interaction before patches, scans, and other processes go out to the entire enterprise.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Tanium for five or more years.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Tanium a nine out of ten. My advice to others looking into using Tanium is to evaluate the product, ensure you have your workflows in place, and organize teams to support it, including first and foremost the security team for compliance, as it will really save you time and energy.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Tanium scans all the endpoints and detects PII and highly sensitive data. I can select built-in patterns like SIN numbers and credit card numbers, and its built-in e-discovery features make it easy to use.

I think Tanium needs to improve its false positive results.

Allows managing devices through a console and helps analyze risks and execute corrective actions to solve them, as well as keeping them secure.
What do you dislike about the product?
The implementation is complicated, requiring constant training to take advantage of all functionalities, and the cost of this tool is too high.
