The rate meters running software time on the AWS instance type you deploy. One unit equals one running instance for one hour. Each instance family and size carries its own hourly rate. Underlying AWS infrastructure charges for the EC2 compute apply separately from this software fee.
Software charges accrue per hour while an instance runs. Stopped instances stop accruing software fees. The setup scales reader nodes and the proxy layer down horizontally when workload drops, so fewer running instances mean lower hourly software charges during quiet periods.
The proxy layer and reader database servers scale automatically as workload increases. Each additional running instance adds its own hourly software charge at that instance type's rate. Your total cost rises with the number of instances running and the hours each stays active.

- Click "Accept Terms" and then click "Continue to Confirguration"
- Choose AWS Region
- Click "Continue to Launch"
- Click "Launch"
- Follow fields description to enter correct values for your CloudFormation setup
- When the CloudFormation stack has finished the setup you can access the application via a browser at http://<public_ip_address>/
- User: your-instance-ID, Password: your-instance-private-IP-address
- Enter DNS name of your Aurora writer endpoint
- Enter DNS name of your Aurora reader endpoint
- Apply changes
To connect to the operating system, use SSH and the username ubuntu.
