You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you choose to run this preconfigured e-commerce appliance. Pricing scales with instance size and family, not with software features. Options include general-purpose families (t2, t3, t3a, m1 through m8i), compute-optimized families (c1 through c8i), storage-optimized families (i7i), and memory-focused families (r7a, r8i). Larger sizes such as xlarge and 2xlarge cost more per hour than nano, micro, small, medium, and large sizes. You match the instance to your expected traffic and workload. AWS infrastructure charges apply separately.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 instance-hour of the instance type you select. You pay for every hour the appliance runs on that instance. Larger instance families and sizes carry higher hourly software rates. The appliance itself runs the same e-commerce software regardless of which instance type you choose.
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Note that AWS may still bill for attached storage and, if used, an Elastic IP while the instance is stopped. These AWS infrastructure fees are separate from this listing.
You change the instance size manually. The hourly rate updates to match the new instance type you run. The bundled 1-Click backup and restore tool lets you save your files and databases, then restore them onto a differently sized instance without rebuilding your shop from scratch.

Usage instructions
System initialization
After launch, browse to http://<Public_DNS>/ and complete the first-boot configuration, or connect by SSH using the key pair selected at launch.
Operating system access
Connect using SSH as the Linux user admin with the selected EC2 key pair. Run privileged commands with sudo; this provides full OS-level administration.
Application access
Open http://<Public_DNS>/ in a web browser. The application may redirect to HTTPS after configuration.
