Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor, and additional usage. You pay upfront or in installments according to your contract terms with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. Usage-based pricing is in effect for overages or additional usage not covered in the contract. These charges are applied on top of the contract price. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before the contract end date, access to your entitlements will expire.

These governance and scaling controls run on infrastructure you host and control.
Which dimension drives most of my cost, and how do the two combine on my invoice?
The two dimensions bill independently and appear together. The Coder Premium Platform dimension is your committed access to Premium capabilities. The Consumption Costs dimension meters usage as it accrues. Consumption scales with how much you run, so it grows as you deploy more workspaces and agents across your teams.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can choose a template and get a workspace ready without doing the whole setup again. The different options for Node.js, React , Python, Docker, and AWS are useful for different projects. It saves quite a bit of time when starting something new. The workspace details also make it easy to see what's running.
What do you dislike about the product?
The first setup took me a little time to understand. Basic workspaces are easy, but custom templates need more technical knowledge. There are quite a few settings to go through when you want to change things. I think the initial setup could be easier for new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coder saves me from setting up the same development environment again and again. I can use a template and start working with the required tools already in place. It also keeps the team on a similar setup, so there are few local environment issues. That makes starting new projects and switching between them much easier.

What do you like best about the product?
I use Coder to set up remote workspaces in the cloud and connect from my local environment to program directly on powerful virtual machines. It reduces setup time for new team members and completely eliminates configuration discrepancies, ensuring that we all work in exactly the same environment. I like the development experience because the integration with the usual tools is smooth and natural, allowing me to work remotely without losing the agility of local development. The ability to define and customize workspaces using infrastructure as code is great and valuable to me. The initial setup was easy and very smooth.

I find that performance on large-scale projects should be better, as the real speed of large volumes in repositories is slow.

What do you like best about the product?
Coder provides some order in our development process. For back-end development, a properly configured workspace that has the necessary environment is predictable for everyday tasks. Coder is primarily used by me for writing code, executing services, and API testing, hence, performance is one of the aspects that I can easily detect. In most scenarios, it works well with our workload although a properly planned infrastructure would be needed for bigger environments. Another thing that I appreciate about how Coder integrates into our development environment is that we do not have to revamp our workflow according to the tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one issue that worries me about Coder is how the pricing model will become difficult to assess as use increases. This tool adds value to developers, but having more clarity on the pricing details depending on the level of use would be helpful. As an engineer, I usually focus on the return on investment from an engineering point of view, and thus it is important for the cost expectation to be clear. The onboarding process has been satisfactory for us so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The issue that was mentioned before is the number of hours wasted on searching for solutions to development issues that occur less often than usual. The whole process largely depended on personal experience, which could vary from one team member to another. Coder assisted us to overcome some of those uncertainties via its various support and help features. AI features seem to be the other feature of Coder that interests me due to the fact that more intelligent suggestions could assist developers in overcoming their obstacles with fewer breaks.
