This dataset provides annual coastline positions across the Pacific
region derived from Landsat satellite imagery. It captures long-term
shoreline change by mapping coastal boundaries over time, providing
insights into processes including erosion (where landmass area
decreases) and accretion or deposition (where landmass area increases).
The dataset supports coastal change analysis, erosion monitoring, and
climate adaptation planning.
Annual shoreline vectors are extracted and composited from Landsat
imagery, and are published as a vector time series in both GeoPackage

Fractional Land Cover represents the percentage of bare soil,
photosynthetic vegetation, and non-photosynthetic vegetation across the
Pacific region, derived from multi-mission Landsat surface reflectance
imagery using spectral unmixing. The dataset supports long-term
environmental monitoring, land cover change analysis, ecosystem
monitoring, trend analysis, and land degradation assessment. It
comprises two products:
Scene-based Fractional Land Cover: per-scene estimates of bare soil
(bs), photosynthetic vegetation (pv) and non-photosynthetic vegetation
(npv) fractions, plus unmixing error (ue), from 1984 onwards.
Annual Summary: yearly statistical summaries (10th, 50th and 90th
percentiles) of each cover fraction, along with counts of valid
observations.
The Global Mangrove Watch (GMW) dataset is a result of the collaboration between Aberystwyth University (U.K.), solo Earth Observation (soloEO; Japan), Wetlands International the World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The primary objective of producing this dataset is to provide countries lacking a national mangrove monitoring system with first cut mangrove extent and change maps, to help safeguard against further mangrove forest loss and degradation.
The Global Mangrove Watch dataset (version 2) consists of a global baseline map of mangroves for 2010 and changes from this baseline for six epochs i.e. 1996, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2015 and 2016. Annual maps are planned from 2018 and onwards. The dataset can be used to identify mangrove ecosystems and monitor changes in mangrove extent. This dataset provides annual cloud-free composite imagery derived from
Landsat surface reflectance observations across the Pacific region using
geometric median and absolute deviation (GeoMAD) methods. The data are
masked for cloud, shadows and other image artefacts using the associated
pixel quality product to help provide as clear a set of observations as
possible from which to calculate the medians.
Along with the geometric median surface reflectance bands, the GeoMAD
includes three measures of variability (Euclidean, spectral and Bray-
Curtis median absolute deviations: emad, smad and bcmad) and a count of
clear observations. The dataset is available annually from 2000 and
supports monitoring of vegetation, land cover, and coastal environments.
