BMC AMI Cloud modernizes mission-critical data operations and offers a seamless software-based solution to discover, move, transform, and manage mainframe data in the AWS Cloud. BMC AMI Cloud Data creates a bi-directional flow of data between your mainframe and the AWS Cloud so you can eliminate traditional data management solutions and backup, archive, and recover your data directly in the cloud. BMC AMI Cloud Data replaces traditional mainframe data storage hardware and software, with Amazon S3 object storage, performing all data management functions over a single software-only solution.
BMC AMI Cloud Vault provides mainframe cyber threat protection that enables customers to create highly secure, off-platform backup copies of mainframe data-and quickly recover it in case of an attack.
BMC AMI Cloud Analytics transfers mainframe data to object storage in the cloud and then transforms it into open formats for use in cloud applications. It is the only solution that eliminates proprietary data silos without consuming mainframe CPU or requiring changes to your mainframe applications.

Pricing

What is our primary use case?
My main use case for BMC AMI Cloud Analytics is for understanding our cloud cost. I want to understand the usage of my Lambda compute, how many compute hours Lambda used, and we also used it for EC2 compute time. One of the final uses we had for it was for PostgreSQL operational costs.
What is most valuable?
BMC AMI Cloud Analytics has a good cost split by the different components. The fastest clicks by the different components show how the split of cost works for every component, including what the compute cost is, what the storage cost is, and what the I/O cost is.
BMC AMI Cloud Analytics has positively impacted our organization by helping us understand the cost better so that we can tune our systems, tune our database, and tune our computing capacities to reduce costs.
What needs improvement?
I would use BMC AMI Cloud Analytics more to get more information.

I have been using this solution for the past year and have been working in my current field for the last 17 years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Previously, we used AWS native cost analytics, but it requires every component to be listed and gone through individually, while the BMC AMI tool helped to consolidate it all together with less effort.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment because it easily provided the cost splits through the tool rather than our infrastructure team trying to figure out all the components, so it saved time and money.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that it is pretty easy because it is a simple installation.
What other advice do I have?
BMC AMI Cloud Analytics would receive an eight out of ten rating from me. I chose eight out of ten because I still need to explore some of the additional features. I would recommend exploring all the features of BMC AMI Cloud Analytics, as it would be a very good analytic tool for any organization that wants to know better cost splits of every AWS component.
