This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for a secure, ready-to-use Joomla 6 content management system. Build websites, blogs and portals and manage them from your browser, with unique passwords for every instance.
Joomla is an open source content management system (CMS) for building websites, blogs, online magazines, company portals and community sites. Its built-in multilingual support, flexible menus and large library of extensions make it a good fit for sites that need more structure than a simple blog. This image gives designers, agencies and businesses a working Joomla site in minutes, with no installer to run and no database to create.
What is included: Joomla 6.1.3 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Apache with PHP, MySQL 8.0, phpMyAdmin 5.2 for database administration and Webmin 2.660 for server administration. Security is on by default: no password ships in the image. On first boot every instance sets its own Joomla administrator, MySQL root and Webmin passwords, a new Joomla secret and a new phpMyAdmin secret, MySQL listens only on the server itself, and SSH accepts key-based login only.
What you get on top of the free software: a pre-built and tested image that is ready in minutes, a unique security setup for every server, simple scripts for changing passwords, regular image updates, and help by email whenever you need it. Joomla is open source software licensed under GPL-2.0. Joomla is a trademark of Open Source Matters, Inc. This image is an independent build by ProvenCloud.

Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you choose to run this pre-built Joomla machine image. The software itself is open source and needs no license key, so the hourly charge covers compute only. Pricing scales with instance size and family. Smaller instances like t3a.medium or c5.large cost less per hour, while large sizes such as c5.12xlarge or x2iezn.metal cost more. Families target different workloads: compute (c), general purpose (m, t), memory (r, x, z), storage (d, i), and GPU or accelerated (g, p, inf, trn). Select the size matching your traffic and performance needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Does the hourly rate include any software license fee for Joomla?
No. The bundled software is open source under GPL-2.0-or-later and needs no license key. The hourly charge you see covers the running instance only. You pay AWS separately for compute and storage, such as the gp3 root volume the image uses.
Am I charged the hourly rate when my instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge meters running time only, so a stopped instance does not accrue it. You may still pay AWS storage fees for the attached volume while the instance is stopped. The site works out its own address, so stop and start needs no reconfiguration.
What does one hour of billing cover for a chosen instance type?
One hour covers one running EC2 instance of the type you select, carrying the pre-built Joomla image. Each instance type maps to a set amount of CPU, memory, and networking. The seller recommends t3a.medium as a starting size for this image.

Vendor refund policy
Software charges are billed hourly, only while your instance runs. You can stop charges at any time by terminating the instance or cancelling your subscription. Charges already incurred are not refundable.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Additional details
Usage instructions
Once the instance is running, enter http://<instance-public-ip> into your browser to see your site. The administrator area is at http://<instance-public-ip>/administrator; sign in with admin as the username and your instance ID as the password. phpMyAdmin is at http://<instance-public-ip>/phpmyadmin; sign in with root as the username and your instance ID as the password. Webmin is on port 8000, so open http://<instance-public-ip>:8000 and sign in with admin as the username and your instance ID as the password. You can also connect over SSH with the username ubuntu and your Amazon key pair.
Required inbound ports: 22 (SSH), 80 (Joomla and phpMyAdmin) and 8000 (Webmin). For security, allow ports 22 and 8000 only from your own IP address.
Your instance ID is shown in the EC2 console, for example i-0123456789abcdef0. Every instance sets its own passwords on first boot, so no two instances share a password. Allow two to three minutes after launch for the first-boot setup to finish before you sign in.
Change your passwords after the first sign-in: connect over SSH and run sudo bash /home/ubuntu/iscripts/pass_joomla.sh for Joomla, pass_mysql.sh for MySQL root or pass_webmin.sh for Webmin, from the same folder.
The image serves plain HTTP so it works on a bare IP address. Before using it in production, add your own domain and an SSL certificate, or place it behind a load balancer with HTTPS.
