You pay by the hour for a preconfigured Apache ActiveMQ Artemis image running on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, every dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the hardware you choose. Options span burstable t2 and t3 families for light or variable workloads, plus m4, m5, m6, and m7 general-purpose families. Sizes range from nano and micro up to large metal instances. Larger instances add more CPU, memory, and networking, so you scale cost by selecting a bigger instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit actually cover in this listing?
Each hourly unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, with the Apache ActiveMQ Artemis image preinstalled on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. You pay for each hour that instance runs. The rate reflects the instance family and size, so larger instances cost more per hour.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running hours only. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage or other resources tied to the instance may still bill separately. To stop software charges, stop or terminate the instance.
How do I decide which instance dimension to pick for my workload?
Choose based on how much CPU, memory, and networking your messaging load needs. Burstable t2 and t3 families suit light or variable traffic. The m4, m5, m6, and m7 general-purpose families handle steadier loads. Larger sizes and metal options add capacity and raise the hourly rate.
