Ubuntu 26.04 runner image for hatchrun, which runs each GitHub Actions job on a fresh EC2 instance in your own AWS account. The instance runs one job and powers off. The image is free; you pay only for the EC2 instances and storage your jobs use.
hatchrun runs self-hosted GitHub Actions runners in your own AWS account. For every queued job it launches a fresh EC2 instance from this image, runs exactly that job and terminates the instance. Nothing carries over from one job to the next.
The image is Ubuntu 26.04 and stays compatible with GitHub hosted runners where workflows depend on it: a runner user with passwordless sudo, /opt/hostedtoolcache, ImageOS, rootful Docker with Buildx, and preinstalled toolchains that setup-* actions use without downloading. Every build runs a compatibility suite of common actions and Docker workloads before release, ships with an SBOM and a vulnerability scan, and is rebuilt weekly.
The image does nothing on its own. An instance launched by hand boots normally and stays idle. Connect your AWS account and GitHub organization at https://hatchrun.io, or run the open-source scaler yourself: https://github.com/hatchrun/hatchrun

This listing is the runner software itself, offered at no charge. You pay nothing for the product. Pricing is organized by Arm-based (arm64) EC2 instance type, each billed by the hour. The many dimensions map to AWS instance families and sizes, from small general-purpose machines up to large compute-, memory-, and storage-focused ones. You pick the instance type that fits each job's CPU, memory, and storage needs. Hourly cost scales with the size and family you select. Your AWS compute charges are billed by AWS directly and separately from this listing.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do the hourly instance charges on this listing actually cover?
The runner software is free. The hourly rate reflects the Arm-based EC2 instance you select to run a job. Each job gets a fresh machine that is deleted when the job ends. You are billed for the time that machine runs, by the hour.
Am I charged when no jobs are running?
Each job starts one machine, runs, then terminates. Nothing carries over between jobs. When no job is active, no instance runs, so no instance-hours accrue. Charges begin when a machine starts for a job and stop once that machine is deleted.
How do I choose which instance type to pick from the list?
You match the instance family and size to each job's needs. Jobs select a CPU-count label, and the control plane picks a matching machine. General-purpose, compute-, memory-, and storage-focused families are available. Hourly cost scales with the size and family you choose.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
