Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
This listing is free, so the software itself carries no license charge. Pricing here reflects only the AWS EC2 instance you run it on, billed hourly. You pick from many instance families to match your workload. General-purpose (m and t) types balance compute and memory. Compute-optimized (c and hpc) types focus on processing power, including high-performance computing sizes. Memory-optimized (r) types suit memory-heavy work. Within each family, sizes scale from nano and medium up to 96xlarge. You pay more per hour as size and capacity increase. Choose the size that fits your needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
If the software is free, what am I actually paying for on each hourly instance?
You pay only the AWS EC2 infrastructure charge for the instance you run. The eLxr Server software adds no license fee. Your hourly cost reflects the compute, memory, and instance family you select. Underlying AWS storage and data transfer are billed separately by AWS.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or powered off?
Hourly charges accrue only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing hourly software and compute charges. Attached storage may still incur AWS fees while stopped. Billing meters running time, so pausing workloads reduces your hourly cost.
How do I choose between the t, m, c, r, and hpc instance families?
Each family targets a workload type. The t and m types balance compute and memory for general use. The c and hpc types focus on processing power, including high-performance computing sizes. The r types suit memory-heavy work. Pick the family matching your workload, then scale the size up or down.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
