Callaba - Cloud Infrastructure for Mission-Critical Live Video

Callaba is a unified control plane for live video workflows, deployed as an AMI inside your own AWS account. It replaces scattered point tools with one operational system for receiving, monitoring, routing, switching, recording, and delivering live video.

A free trial is available - launch from AWS Marketplace and start streaming in minutes with usage-based pricing that scales with your workload.

    Key Capabilities

    • SRT and RTMP Ingest - Receive contribution feeds from encoders, remote cameras, and production tools. Reliable SRT/RTMP server+gateway with ultra-low latency
    • Browser Multiview - Monitor multiple live sources in real-time from any browser with zero software installation
    • Main/Backup Failover - Switch between primary and backup streams manually or automatically
    • Cloud Routing - Route video feeds to multiple outputs, destinations, and downstream systems
    • SRT to NDI Conversion - Bridge cloud and on-premises production environments
    • Live Recording - Record events directly to storage within your AWS account
    • Video Calls with Talkback - Coordinate with remote talent and crew via WebRTC
    • Private Playback - Create secure, branded player links for stakeholders
    • Restreaming - Distribute to social platforms, CDNs, and custom endpoints
    • API Automation - Build repeatable workflows and integrate with external systems programmatically

    Security and Data Sovereignty

Callaba runs entirely within your AWS VPC. No video data leaves your account unless you explicitly route it to an external destination. SRT transport provides built-in AES-128/256 encryption for feeds in transit. Recordings are stored in your own infrastructure with AWS encryption options for data at rest. The management interface requires authentication, and API access is controlled through key management.

    Deployment and Prerequisites

Deploy directly from AWS Marketplace by selecting your preferred instance type and AWS region. Quick-start flow: launch the AMI, access the management UI, create an SRT server, stream from OBS Studio or any SRT-capable encoder, and verify output with VLC or your production tool.

Supported instance types: Choose based on your workload - higher vCPU and memory configurations support more concurrent streams and transcoding operations. Runs on standard EC2 instances within your existing VPC.

    Use Cases

    • Live Events - Multi-camera ingest, real-time monitoring, and failover for concerts, sports, and conferences
    • Remote Production - Receive SRT feeds from distributed locations into a centralized cloud control room
    • Broadcast Operations - 24/7 channel playout, contribution routing, and disaster recovery
    • Private Streaming - Secure internal communications, corporate events, and rights-managed content
    • Video Platforms - API-driven infrastructure for OTT services and streaming applications

Why Teams Choose Callaba Over Scattered Tools

Instead of managing separate systems for ingest, monitoring, failover, recording, and delivery, Callaba consolidates these into one interface. Running inside your own AWS account means no vendor lock-in, full data sovereignty, and infrastructure you control. The browser-based multiview eliminates dedicated hardware multiviewers, and API automation enables workflows that manual tools cannot replicate at scale.

Get started with the free trial - deploy from AWS Marketplace, create your first SRT server, and have a working live video workflow running in minutes.

    Highlights

    • Control live video workflows from one AWS-based system. Receive SRT and RTMP feeds, route sources to multiple outputs, monitor streams in the browser, record events, and manage production workflows from a single interface. Designed for broadcast, OTT, AV, and production teams who need centralized control over distributed live video operations.
    • Monitor and protect live events with browser multiview and failover. View multiple live sources from any browser, check feed status in real time, and switch between main and backup streams manually or automatically. File fallback ensures continuous output even when all live sources drop, keeping your broadcast on air.
    • Build cloud, hybrid, and private production workflows. Convert SRT to NDI, send feeds to production tools, create private players, restream to multiple destinations, record live content, and automate repeatable workflows through the Callaba API. Supports SRT push and pull routing with detailed real-time graphical statistics for connection health monitoring.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Version release notes

Important: Upgrade to this version only if you specifically need the changes listed below or if you are ready to test this version on your own infrastructure.

For all other cases, we recommend using the main Callaba 8.6 release.

    Changes in this version:

    1. Added SMPTE support in Multiview.

Multiview can now work with raw SMPTE data directly. This helps avoid extra transcoding steps when the source format already matches the production workflow.

    1. Added server-side control for SRT listener latency.

The SRT listener latency parameter can now be managed on the Callaba server side. Previously, this setting usually had to be configured on the encoder side.

Now you can override SRT latency directly on the server. This gives cloud production workflows better control over the packet loss recovery window and makes it easier to stabilize problematic SRT feeds without changing encoder settings.

Improving live event automation has revealed strong low latency streaming and cost savings

    Reviewed on Dec 14, 2025
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

Callaba Cloud  is used to host corporate events and webinars, which enables us to host large-scale online events with seamless live streams. It provides instant recording and gallery views, helping us to reach our global audiences.

Additionally, it helps us with content monetization and distribution, which allows us to create content and distribute it through our platform and restream it to the cloud. Callaba Cloud  also supports us in hosting big tournaments. It has features such as scalable IP, multi-IP streaming, low latency, and CDN  capabilities that give us good control over the video calls we are streaming.

I have been using Callaba Cloud in my current organization for the last three and a half years.

Callaba Cloud was purchased through the AWS Marketplace .

How has it helped my organization?

Callaba Cloud has helped us in achieving low-latency and resilience-optimized real-time delivery, featuring RTMP, SRT, and WebRTC, which support good-scale broadcast and interaction.

Callaba Cloud has positively impacted our organization by reducing latency by 33% and expanding our reach by 22%. Additionally, it has helped us reduce the time to market and fast deployment of our live streams and video content by 55% and increased engagement of our live events and broadcasts by 44%.

By consolidating live streaming, recording, and editing to a single platform, we have also reduced infrastructure and operational costs by 30 to 40% compared to using multiple disjointed tools.

    What is most valuable?

Callaba Cloud's intuitive UI is one of my favorite features, as it helps me and my organization to see real-time content organization and aids in multi-platform broadcasting and remote collaboration for our teams spread worldwide.

Callaba Cloud supports SRT, WebRTC, and CDN  integration, which simplifies collaboration and provides high-quality, low-latency streaming for our enterprise. Additionally, the live broadcast and video-on-demand feature allows us to upload, stream, record, or embed customizable web players with a simple UI. We can also convert live streams or video calls into cloud-friendly formats, supported by NDI adapters for seamless integration with professional systems, which is another aspect I truly appreciate.

    What needs improvement?

While Callaba Cloud provides a good solution to our organization, one area for improvement could be enhancing workflow automation by automating more routine tasks, such as content transcoding, captioning, and distribution to further reduce manual efforts and accelerate content publishing.

Additionally, expanding editing features like multi-camera switching overlays and real-time graphics could enable richer live production without requiring external editing software.

Callaba Cloud could simplify onboarding and configuration with guided tutorials and templates. It could also improve team collaboration features with integrated chat, annotation, and a version control system.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for almost 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Callaba Cloud is definitely a stable solution, as it rarely encounters glitches in our organization.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Callaba Cloud is very scalable due to the pay-as-you-go model, which allows organizations to scale up or down as needed.

How are customer service and support?

Callaba Cloud integrates very well with other AWS  services we use, and whenever integration is required, it functions without malfunctions. Recently, when there was an integration issue about six months ago, the customer support team solved it seamlessly within 45 to 50 minutes, which is commendable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before using Callaba Cloud, we did not have any dedicated software for these functions. We used our in-house systems and other third-party platforms for streaming. We evaluated multiple solution providers such as Zoom Events, Vimeo Livestream, Brightcove  Live, StreamYard, Kaltura , and Dacast among others, but found that Callaba Cloud video production suite was the best fit, providing all the necessary features at a lower cost compared to competitors.

    How was the initial setup?

Callaba Cloud was quite easy to deploy in our environment. The deployment does not require any technical solutioning and since we have senior people in our organization who are very technical, the initial deployment was very straightforward and did not take long.

Callaba Cloud's configuration process went well for us. We did not run into any challenges, and the very basic features needed for integration were successfully integrated with ease without any issues.

    What was our ROI?

We have indeed seen cost savings by consolidating live streaming, recording, and editing features by 30 to 40%. As a scalable platform, user retention has increased by 34% and improved collaborations among remote teams have resulted in a 25 to 30% increase in productivity due to real-time video editing and cloud-based collaboration features, representing important metrics of improvement.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

While alternatives like Zoom Events can be creative, the choice ultimately depends on your specific needs.

What other advice do I have?

Callaba Cloud supports SRT, WebRTC, and CDN integration, which simplifies collaboration and provides high-quality, low-latency streaming for our enterprise. Additionally, the live broadcast and video-on-demand feature allows us to upload, stream, record, or embed customizable web players with a simple UI. We can also convert live streams or video calls into cloud-friendly formats, supported by NDI adapters for seamless integration with professional systems, which is another aspect I truly appreciate.

By reducing latency, the time taken to complete tasks and post videos and stream live has significantly improved the experience for those watching. Previously, there was a potential lag of three to four seconds during streaming, and that lag has been fixed, resulting in increased video quality. These are the real use cases from which our organization has benefited by using Callaba Cloud video production suite.

We use AWS  as our cloud provider.

Callaba Cloud's procurement process was easy for us.

Regarding the metering and billing experience, it has been good since we access it through the AWS Marketplace , which is based on a pay-as-you-go model. Whenever we need streaming or content creation, the pay-as-you-go model adapts to the plan we are utilizing, such as charging $0.10 per minute for streaming. With good solutioning, enterprise level plans can offer more discounts, making our overall experience with metering and billing quite positive. I would rate this product 4 out of 5.
