You pay based on usage, measured in Query Units. Each SQL query you run against your DynamoDB tables counts toward your metered usage. Your first 500 queries are free. After that, you pay only for the queries you run, with no upfront cost and no monthly minimum. This is a single usage-based dimension, so charges scale directly with query volume. Note that validating queries in plan mode does not fetch data. Separately, DynamoDB read capacity used by your queries is charged to your own AWS account and is not billed here.

What counts as one Query Unit for billing purposes?
A Query Unit maps to one SQL query you run in execute mode against your DynamoDB tables. Each query you execute counts toward metered usage. Queries run in plan mode only validate and optimize the statement without fetching data, so they do not consume DynamoDB read capacity.
Are there row limits or extra charges for large result sets?
There are no artificial row limits beyond the pagination parameter, which defaults to 100 rows per request. You can raise it per request or page through full results. Billing counts queries, not rows returned. Note that stateless pagination re-executes the query on each page request.
Do write operations like INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE count toward my query charges?
No. This engine is read-only and supports SELECT statements only. INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and schema changes are not supported, so they cannot be billed here. Writes remain in DynamoDB through its native APIs. Only SELECT queries you execute count as metered Query Units.
