Cloud Native High Throughput Compute (HTC) for Financial Services

     Info

    Overview

Financial Services organisations are looking to modernise their High Performance Computing (HPC) legacy environments, moving away from ONE monolithic grid service towards more scalable, flexible and agile solutions while reducing costs. Traditional batch centric HPC solutions are too slow to respond and evolve to address new regulatory and business requirements, keep up with the trend towards an increased demand in compute resource. They are increasingly costly to run.

In contrast, High Throughput Compute - HTC-Grid - is a cloud-native high-performance computing and grid scheduling service enables on-demand access to nearly unlimited computing capacity, and automatically optimizes compute resources for cost and performance. It enhances risk modelling running risk calculations at 60% lower cost. It is able to scale capacity with business demands, running 5x more calculations per day on average. With the agility and elasticity to develop more complex risk models, intraday trading strategies and fast reporting capability, HTC-Grid enables to navigate increased market volatility, and improve returns, optimize capital reserves, and adhere to regulations.

    Reply Approach

Our Engagement approach helps customers to speed up and de-risk their HPC journey to the cloud and algorithm modernisation using our accelerators. We work with you to customise your journey depending on your starting point, business priorities and your ambition focusing on clear tangible business benefits at every stage - for example

    • Lift & shift: Move existing HPC platform, algorithms & execution environments

    • Re-Platform: Migrate to cloud-native HTC – no change in algorithm

    • Re-Engineer: Algorithm modernisation + re-Platforming; Reply 'accelerators' inlcude collateral optimisation and risk-weighted assets (RWA) optimisation

Benefits are cumulative with every step and include significant IT costs savings, increased flexibility, scalability, faster calculations –forging innovation, agility and reduced time to value. Quantum inspired computing can be used on modern GPU achitectures in the 'Re-Engineer' approach. Managed Service is offered as an option.

Not sure where to start? Consider potential starting points:

    1. Opportunity Assessment: proven methods of evaluating technical options and developing of a high-level business case using a TCO calculator
    2. POC at scale using AWS credits

    Highlights

    • Benefits include 1. Significantly reduced OPEX due to the ease of management, eliminates 3rd party and software licence costs
    • 2. Improved Performance: higher job throughput Vs Legacy HPC: >10,000 tasks/s vs ( <2,000 ); round trip latency approx. 0.1s with improved orchestration, scheduling & management
    • 3. Flexibility & Agility: rapidly created environments (approx. 15 minutes) aligned with specific business units /domains; Modular Architecture & Infrastructure as Code; setting the stage for transformative Algorithm Modernisation
