Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for this hardened Oracle Linux 10 image, billed per running instance. The many dimensions all map to specific AWS EC2 instance types, so pricing scales with the compute size and family you choose. Smaller shared instances cost less per hour, while larger memory, compute, storage, and accelerated instances cost more. Both x86_64 and ARM/Graviton instance families are covered. You add the software fee to the AWS infrastructure charge for whichever instance you launch. Choose the instance type that fits your workload; there are no fixed tiers or commitment terms.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick. You are billed per hour that instance runs. The rate reflects the instance size and family. This software fee is separate from, and adds to, the AWS infrastructure charge for that same instance.
The software fee meters running hours. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes may still apply while stopped. Charges resume once you start the instance again.
The hourly software fee covers the maintained, PCI-focused image. Citadel patches and republishes images monthly with an expedited critical-update path. Per-image evidence packs are published as available. Your team still owns application security, architecture, and assessor validation, which are outside this fee. An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
This is the first release of the Oracle Linux 10 PCI-hardened image. All current security patches are applied and over 300 security controls are configured by default. The image has no additional software installed.

Usage instructions
- Launch the image inside your secure VPC.
- Scope access to trusted IPs only. Avoid exposing the instance directly to the internet.
- Use AWS Systems Manager Session Manager or connect via VPN if possible.
To connect via SSH: ssh ec2-user@<your-ec2-public-ip>.
Ensure port 22 is open in your security group and locked down to your IP.
No additional steps are required. The system is already fully hardened and ready to use.
