See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for this hardened Rocky Linux 9.1 machine image. Pricing follows the EC2 instance type you launch, billed as a software fee on top of AWS infrastructure charges. Each dimension maps to one instance size, from small general-purpose types like t2 and t3 up to memory-optimized, compute-optimized, storage, GPU, and bare-metal families. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware carry higher hourly rates. You choose the instance that fits your workload. There is no upfront commitment; charges accrue only while instances run, so cost scales with usage.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for this listing?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. The rate reflects that instance size only. Running two instances of the same type bills two hourly charges. The fee covers the hardened Rocky Linux 9.1 software; AWS charges for the underlying compute separately.
Am I charged the software fee while an instance is stopped?
The hourly software fee applies only while an instance runs. A stopped instance accrues no software charge. You may still owe AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the Rocky Linux 9.1 license meters running hours only.
How does my bill change if I switch to a larger instance type?
Each instance type maps to its own hourly rate. Moving to a type with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware bills that type's higher rate for every running hour. The change is not automatic; you launch or resize to the new type yourself. Cost tracks the type currently running.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
